To clarify I don’t think Lucio should be here but he definitely deserves it more than Eriksen.
Lukaku and Icardi however are debatable but I personally feel Icardi should 100% be here. But maybe that’s just me.
I suggested in a much earlier post to have a set of parameters that pretty much guarantee a player's "induction" here. To lay out the format without really putting much thought into it, I'll sum it up.
So a player that wins a Champions League with Inter, having a vital role, which would exclude Balotelli and Muntari for example from the 2010 one, should be almost a lock.
A minimum of 100 (league) games or something should also be a condition, unless of course you won big titles during your short stay here.
Scudetti, we have a lot more than the Eurotrophies so winning the league with Inter shouldn't really make you a legend. But at the same time, winning a trophy must be a minimum. Your Icardi example, or Palacio I may add, should be extremely debatable for this, since they haven't won a thing here despite being mostly effective.
Uefa Cups aren't as important, so again, if you win a Uefa Cup + Scudetto, that's pretty much where you're entering 'lock' territory. So that's the Lothar Matthaus category, whereas someone like Bergkamp with a Uefa Cup win and a relegation battling season shouldn't really be considered.
And since it's Italy and a Juventus infested league, we have several trophies that were stolen from us. 1961, 1998 and 2002 are the most outrageous ones. Players from 1998, who've also won the Uefa Cup, should be held at a higher regard. That includes Ronaldo, Pagliuca, Djorkaeff, Simeone, Zamorano, Moriero etc.
So essentially we lay out a format with boxes to tick and if the player meets an X amount of boxes or a Y amount of points that these boxes contain, he's in. And if he falls within a threshold, there's a poll.
No one would open a Dalbert or Joao Mario to LGI poll for example.
I also suggested that we need some time to pass before we have a poll. People are too sentimental and their initial reactions are extremely emotional without any thoughts put in.
Pandev for example is a player we all loved here, but he's not LGI material just because he has been part of a great squad and had that iconic goal vs Bayern in 2011.
D'Ambrosio is a soldier and has now won trophies for Inter, but he's not LGI. He's never been one of the most important players, or even a permanent starter to consider him as such, but he's the kind of player that's up to debate due to a variety of reasons.
But if Eriksen is in, then definitely both Pandev and D'Ambrosio should be in.
We're all happy Christian survived that scare, but that doesn't make him an Inter legend. Hardly anyone will remember that he played for us, it was almost exclusively without crowd anyway, so not that many of Inter fans have even seen him from the stands either!
Fuck. Icardi, Lukaku and Ronaldo are crying right now because they aren't in the FIF's prestigious LGE but Eriksen is.
Who cares really? This has been discussed way much more than it should be.
The issue isn't whether or not anyone cares. The issue is that people come here, want to learn a thing or two and see that Ronaldo, Vieri etc aren't part of the greatest Inter players list but instead see some names and they end up getting false information.
We have the subforum, so let's use it properly. It really looks bad towards outsiders and new fans when we have it so wrong.
