Erkin Caner is an Inter player. FC Internazionale has officially announced his transfer via inter.it. The Turk Left back is expected to amaze Serie A by his crossing skills. According to Opta, Erkin distributed 256 crosses from action play with 60 successfully delivered to his teammates.

Reports have surfaced from Turkey revealing the details of Caner Erkin‘s 3-year-deal due to start after the European Championship’s on July 1st. Futbol Arena reveal that Erkin’s base annual wage is 2.2 million Euro per season which could rise up to 2.6 million if performance clauses amongst other clauses are met, like Inter succeeding and finishing high in the league or qualifying for UCL.

Based on how we like to overpay for our targets I doubt we had too heavy a selection process with this signing. Although I doubt we had a heavy selection process, if any, with Kondogbia, Perisic, Melo, Eder, Miranda, or Mancini for that matter. Or Mazzarri, Medel, Dodo, Podolski, and Shaqiri too.

Come on Bandiera, you know as well as I do that Bosman transfers tend to get higher wages than the average player. This makes him the 7th highest paid player on our squad. Far from unreasonable unless he ends up being benched for Nagatomo.

True, but I don't think that justifies it. It's still too high. Our squad is generally overpaid so him being the 7th highest paid player in our squad doesn't prove much. It's not like this one deal puts us into a black hole but it's a slippery slope and we aren't being efficient with our money. Signing someone on 2.2-2.6 mill net when we have high losses and high debt, UCL doesn't look probable next year, and the player doesn't have high transfer value seems a bit shortsighted.
