Not true. we didn't have party as well vs Juventus. Jonny was there. He even screwed up the party.

You know he was joking

I'm happy we won Fiorentina, and drawed against Cagliari, at least we stopped our rivals for a bit.

And if we keep playing this good in defence, not losing any match,... then we have a good season infront of us. I just hope we won't play in a pool the whole winter.

No need to overreact. Pitch was really, really bad and we simply didn't do enough to win.

Feels like it was the wrong game to use Belfodil Kovacic and Alvarez together.

I liked the way the lads played today as some here already mentioned we didnt have a bad player on the pitch
Guarin didnt contribute as much as the others
Belfodil did pretty well actually considering that was his first game bt i think he was clearly out of position would be nice to see hm together with ricky and palacio
Kovacic very nice game from him still missing that killer pass

it might seem like we dropped 2 points against a mediocre team bt cagliari has some pretty descent players and theres no shame in drawing against them especially after dominating the game and playing on their ground

quality of pitch can't be underestimated. nobody wants to get injured and rightfully so... but i still feel we didn't have enough desire to win today. i think the team just wanted the game to be over and go home

This.

No need to overreact. Pitch was really, really bad and we simply didn't do enough to win.

And this.

We simply can't expect a win when we're not being proactive enough on the ball. Belfodil was played out of position tbh, and Guarin was wasteful as always. And never mind that a defence will never be strong when we have perhaps one of the slowest CBs in the league attempting to replace the spot of Campagnaro in the squad.

I'd say this game also demonstrates why we should've moved for Dragovic or another young ball playing CB.

I said this in the other thread, and I'll stick to it. I don't think we currently have enough to be going for CL.

Dude, are you on period or something?

Belfodil was played out of position?? 1st half probably, but he still created something. Second half not at all.

Guarin wasteful? he was playing in a swamp. What do you expect? the ball always stopped there but he got 2 shot on goal in the beginning.

A strong defence? They only had 3 shots on goal. Slowest CB? He blocked at least 2 attempts by Cagliari today. It was unfortunate his calf wasn't enough to block Nainggolan's shot.

Last but not least, not being proactive enough?

Shot attempt: 11 Inter - 7 Cagliari
Shot on goal: 6 Inter - 3 Cagliari
Possession: 58% Inter

P.S: they played on a swamp. Kovacic took a swim today..

Belfodil was played out of position. Yes, he created some chances, but not enough tbh, and I'd say he gave an average performance today.

Guarin was extremely wasteful, and nothing will change that fact. And the number of shots on goal is meaningless when all his attempts were shit tbh. I highly doubt much would've changed from his performance if the pitch hadn't been terrible.

And keep in mind Cagliari left their best attacking player on the bench ;)

Not to mention that Ekdal and Murru were also benched as well, so they really didn't field their best lineup tonight

Also they placed 27 year old Matias Cabrera in the CAM spot, perhaps the most important position in a 4-3-1-2 formation, a player with zero experience in Europe prior to this match

And to replace Cabrera, they placed another player with zero experience in Europe's top leagues, Agim Ibraimi. This was his first game out of the Slovenian 1st and 2nd divisions :palm:

And Rolando was VERY slow today as always. Those attempts from Cagliari were also of a very poor quality, so I'm not surprised he managed to block at least two. And it's not unfortunate or unlucky that his calf wasn't enough to block Nainggolan's shot, rather, it's luck that his calf went near Nainggolan's shot.

Yes, we had possession, but we lacked dynamic passing and movement, and didn't make enough substantial attempts on goal, so I maintain my claim that we weren't proactive enough.

A goal simply requires one strong attempt, so it's meaningless when you make 50 terrible shots on net, and then claim you played the better game, even though the opposing side makes 1 good shot on goal that goes in (not saying this was the case in the Cagliari-Inter match though)

Its kinda annoying to draw this game since Juventus and Napoli most likely will be in top 3, then there are us, Roma, Fiorentina and Milan to contend for the last CL spot.. Even if our form continues AND we get a few reinforcements in January I still think its gonna be tough to get that CL spot.

But actually I dont mind this result that much, Calgiari are never really dangerous in the whole match and most important of all considering the pitch I'm just glad we didnt get any injuries.. people could have broken their feet on those pools of water.

 we were without Taider, Palacio, Jonathan and Campagnaro in the beginning. Belfodil has only played some minutes before. Kovacic is not 100% fit. Rolando first Serie A game. Now what?

Dude, again it's a swamp pitch. Kovacic, Nagatomo, Ricky, Belfodil, Guarin, Conti, Nainggollan, Ibarbo. All failed to dribble properly or get a right pass on that pitch. When you have time tomorrow, try to pass a ball across a swimming pool, we'll see if you can get a proper passing or at least make the ball rolls on the water. :palm:

I don't know what you meant by strong attempt but if you could rewatch the game, then you'd realise that Agazzi saved a lot of our attempts from Belfodil, Nagatomo, Guarin and others.

Now you've mixed up between WINNING A GAME and PLAYING GOOD. They are not the same thing. Not every team that play good will win the game, and vice versa. We played good today, everybody gave their efforts including Guarin. It was just much harder with that kind of pitch. A pitch where difficult to have a run, not to mention dribbling through or passing on it.

Compare the quality of our starting lineup to that of Cagliari, regardless of Taider and Campagnaro on the bench. And Jonathan didn't even play well against Fiorentina; a nice goal doesn't account for his overall performance, so I don't think he's worth mentioning tbh.

Palacio was eventually substituted in, Belfodil has two seasons in Serie A under his belt, and Kovacic was fit today. Not saying that these players were bad in this game, but we undeniably had a much stronger and more cohesive starting lineup than that of Cagliari.

And this is Rolando's tenth game in Serie A. Also remember that he played for four seasons as a starter in a fairly competitive Porto side. So he's not exactly inexperienced.

How long will the excuses last?

Except that Guarin was extremely wasteful and Kovacic, Nagatomo, and Nainggolan played relatively well today. Conti and Ricky had decent performances tbh.

Let's see how many players that played today are in the regular starting XI for Inter and Cagliari respectively (bolded players are substitutes that were fielded in this match)

Palacio
Ricky
Pereira - Kovacic - Guarin - Nagatomo
Cambiasso
Juan - Rano - Rolando
Handanovic
Ibarbo - Pinilla
Cabrera
Dessena - Conti - Nainggolan
Avelar - Rossettini - Astori - Perico
Agazzi

:yao:

I don't know what you meant by strong attempt but if you could rewatch the game, then you'd realise that Agazzi saved a lot of our attempts from Belfodil, Nagatomo, Guarin and others.

I really didn't think any of our attempts minus Icardi's goal were considerably strong. Yes, Agazzi had to make a couple of saves, but keep in mind the quality of Cagliari's defence, and also the force of the shots.

Now you've mixed up between WINNING A GAME and PLAYING GOOD. They are not the same thing. Not every team that play good will win the game, and vice versa. Were we better than Cagliari today? Perhaps.

But did we play well? Was our performance strong, not relative to our opponent, but on an absolute scale. I'd argue that it wasn't.

We could've played better, and honestly the excuses need to stop now.
