Report: Bologna sack Colomba
Sunday 29 August, 2010
It is practically official that Bologna have sacked Franco Colomba the day before their season debut against Inter. “We wanted to hire Leonardo.”
The rumours emerged late last night that new patron Sergio Porcedda was unhappy with the team’s progress pre-season.
“He said he was ready to marry his ideas with those of the club, but then he didn’t do that,” the patron told fans outside the training ground.
The timing is extraordinary, as the Rossoblu will make their season debut against Scudetto holders Inter on Monday evening.
With no time to bring in a replacement, youth team Coach Paolo Magnani should sit on the Dall’Ara bench tomorrow.
“Don’t worry, I have very clear ideas. We’ll bring in a Coach who has experience and believes in youngsters,” continued Porcedda.
“I wanted to hire Leonardo, but he said he’s taking a year out.”
Bologna signing the former Milan boss would’ve been quite a coup, but there is a list of less prestigious candidates.
Mario Beretta is the favourite after he was sacked by PAOK Salonicco a month ago, while Alberto Malesani, Davide Ballardini and former West Ham manager Gianfranco Zola are also options.
