Loving to see the praise for Marotta here when he easily gives:
- Miranda 5m to terminate his contract iirc (and a 3m cap hit). But refused to do the same with Valero, or even sell him at 500k capital loss when Fiorentina made an offer.
- Conte 7m to terminate his contract when he was practically resigning
- Vidal 5m to terminate the terrible contract he gave him
- Barbosa a month's worth of salary because it took him 1 month to accept Flamengo's original offer
- Sanchez probably much more than 4m to terminate his deal, which was the clause in place before entering this season.
- Godin to leave for Cagliari (don't remember the figure, probably 3-5m)
- Nainggolan to terminate his contract, which not only cost a lot of money, it had a capital loss of over 9m as well.
But refuses to seal a deal for Bremer, Barella, Lukaku, Eriksen early and either pays the asking price or even manages to pay more. Sure, a more convenient payment structure can lead to a higher valuation but how long should it take? Especially when you announce that the whole team must have been here 2 weeks ago!
He managed to lose Perisic on a free (initially, winter 2020 wanted to sell him for 35m to Arsenal which they weren't paying and refused a loan + 40m option) and almost lost Brozovic on a free, too.
Alienated a bunch of players with Skriniar probably the next one on the list, or perhaps Barella.
Whereas Ausilio gets all the blame for some reason and he was sent to close a deal for Hakimi and got it done within a couple of weeks
