I'd have the balls to say that we'd win against Barca, at their home ground, something that hasn't happened literally in years and years to any team playing against them in the CL, if we didn't look like some provincial side playing against Slavia Prague at our own home ground, barely squeezing a draw out of it in the added time...

And how has Barca looked this season??? Some God like team? Look at Spanish table.

Come on guys...

If we can impose our game, then we can totally win. Lucky for us, Barca hasnt been sharp, and I'm confident that we learned our lesson vs Slava. Still, Barca can play like shit and finish plays. We need full concentration for 90 mins and clinical finishing when the opportunity presents itself.

Don't have one.
I honestly can't understand you guys...

Is this some sort of "I told you so" syndrome? And anyone here wants to be that smart kid, who will eventually quote himself and feel proud that he got it right that we will lose...

What the fuck... If not now, when is the time to dare to win?

After 10 years we finally have a team and a coach who is a genius, after years we have a midfield that can tiki taka just because the hell of it, and a defense that arguably is one of the best in the world, and all I am reading is pessimistic posts...

If not now, when you will have the balls to say that we will win? When we didn't have a midfield game and all we did was hope for Icardi to score goal out of nothing...

Some of you guys here...

What a bunch of pussies...

I get what you are saying, but I think for the moment we should be careful, not enough games we played, and especially not enough really good teams we faced to have that kind of optimism you are talking about. I know this is used often here but this barsa game is really a big test for us to actually see where we are right now.

I remember last year when we faced them I was thinking we are nowhere near the level we should be to have a competitive match against them, and even that draw we managed was more lucky than anything else, we were dominated in both games.

So for me after this game and game against jube I will see where we are and hopefully jump on the hype train, but not before then, I was burned too many times to actually think we can beat barsa on nou camp, after couple of consecutive wins in seria a.

Actually, I would strongly hope for Politano to start.

Barca won't let us to build from the back and they'll obviously have the majority of the possession. We will be forced to soak up the pressure during most of the game. But I trust a backline of Asamoah-Skriniar-DeVrij-Godin-Dambro to do just that.

The only way we can sting them is with occasional counters. And this would be the ideal time for Lukaku to shine as he's far better at running at defenders than having his back to the goal and high balls bouncing off his head to opponents. So partnering him I'd take Politano over Lautaro and Sanchez. He was impressive and fearless vs Barca last year and he's simply better suited for counters than the other two.

That's where I disagree. I think if Conte tries to impose his game over Barca's, we'd get royally fucked. The back three is simply too susceptible against their quick passes and swift wingers. In the Slavia Prague game there was an instance where they pressed our right side, won the ball and, with a simple through ball, had one of their attackers standing freely in open space behind Godin.
I think if we try to impose our game we'd see more of that - especially on Skriniar's side.

Uh, two points behind top after 7 rounds? Come on people, you make it out like we're some world beaters. We are not. A draw would be something, I'm not even thinking about a win. Of course we CAN win, it's football, everything is possible. Just as Slavia can win against Borussia. Odds aren't that good tho, better than many other times, still not in our favour.

I have a slightly different take from some of the posts: I think we should try to play for a win, not because I think we really can (let's face it, barca is better than we are, even now that they are going through a rough patch), but because if we have to go down, then we might as well go down swinging. Playing for a tie against their supercharged attack would result in a loss, period, and an ugly one if we played negative football. If we at least try to win we may well lose in the end, but at least we will give it our best shot. And it's not as if we are going to win the CL as long as we don't lose this game...

So whose game do we play? We cant play theirs, and it's unlikely he makes any tactical changes while a point is still valuable.

We let them play theirs. It won't be a drastic tactical change since what I'm suggesting is a 532 formation which can still technically be viewed as a 352.

If we defend the way we did against Lazio, we'll cop four goals. It needs to improve drastically.

The Fitz is right, despite having a great roaster of defenders they allowed spaces and let Lazio players pass the ball freely inside the box without pressure. If that happened vs Barca we're legit fucked. Specially that Messi will most likely start according to the latest news.

I just hope Conte doesn't shit himself and go for the draw... now, with this team we have, is the perfect time to win against Barcelona after a decade!

I've got a sensation of indifference for this one considering the Juve game is 10 times more important.

Not really agreeing with this. Making it to CL twice after such a long time just to crash out in the group stage again just doesn’t feel right. Fuck being 3rd place and having to play EL again.

What about we win in both games? :eek:blivious:

Jokes aside, if i have to choose, i'd choose win over JuBe 99 times out of 100. The feeling is different, and we NEED Scudetto more at this time. Barca away is still the hardest game to have, even in this poor barca. We can get them home.

Barcelona are more ripe now than in previous seasons simply due to the continued instability of Valverde's tenure and the injuries that have prevented from any sort of consistent form or chemistry in the team

Barca hasn't lost at Camp Nou in CL for more than 6 years so no chance of a loss, just whether they get the much needed 3 pts since all 4 sides in the group are level on points with 1.

Ansu Fati & Alba are ruled out with Leo & Dembélé apparently probable inclusion for the squad although I am skeptical about Ousmane considering his history with muscle injuries.

I envision the following XI - although I would prefer Carles Pérez on that right wing instead of Luis with Griezmann on the left & Messi as a False 9:

lineup.jpg

The biggest tactical issue atm with Barcelona involves creation of scoring chances in the attacking third. Luis Suarez who has not been able to provide goals or link up consistently although he has had little time to develop much chemistry with Griezmann although the truth is that the emergence of Ansu Fati & Pérez have really been revelations for fans. Messi has missed a number of games early in the season but he obviously is motivated when it's CL & playing at home. I have not seen Inter under Conte yet but am aware of how well things have been going. It is the worst version of Barcelona I have seen in many years despite having plenty of talent at their disposal, unfortunately the garbage is actually the coach that needs disposing of
