Atalanta are playing winning football. Without the penalty (6 points) they would have been 2nd.

Target clean sheet. Hope Pazzo/Wesley/Zarate create something. I'd love to see Ricky/Obi play in midfield for 20mins, the team is crying out for someone to carry the ball out and give it to Wesley closer to goal.

Not going to happen but I would love us to play this:

........................... j.cesar .............................
maicon ....... lucio ............. chivu ...... j.zanetti
........ cambiasso ... t.motta ...... obi ...............
........................... sneijder ...........................
................. pazzini ........... zarate .................

I guess that is not going to happen, so I would be happy with the same line up, like against chievo. ;)

:D

I would just replace Motta with Cuchu and play JZ on the right to cover Maicon. Nagatomo comes in. Obi will play I think. Motta is pretty ok. But Cuchu would be a beast in the same role. And Maicon will have better cover on the right and can basically keep camped in their half when we have the ball because J.Z. is almost like a wall there.

Ranieri said there will be a bit of rotation this match. I suspect Milito to start. Obi and Deki could be on first xi too.

i think getting more than one goal should actually be part of our game plan for next game, i know we are missing forlan our main signing up front..but come on..we need GOALS, these 1-0 victories wont help us for long

If Milito starts and plays 90mins, I'd be over the moon and fucking mercury, venus, mars, jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune if we get a 1-0 win. We need 3 points and we can only get it by defending well and trying to make the most of the chances we create. Zarate, Pazzo and Wes are a must.

As much as I would have liked to agree with you (Cambiasso as DM), no way would I like to see:
J.Zanetti -- Cambiasso -- Obi from the start. :(

Cambiasso is a beast when he is played in the DM position but there must be a reason as to why 3 of our last coaches (Ranieri included) have been playing him in the CM role. Motta is indeed a bit slow for the RCM/LCM role but it is also true that he does the simple things (one touch passes) easily and let the flow going on. I would have loved to have a box-box midfielder but we don't have it now, so :D

J.Zanetti does help Maicon in the defence but I just hate the idea of seeing non-creative players in the midfield and we have alot there in the midfield. No wonder we always have to rely on Sneijder-Zarate-Pazzini.

Not sure if it would work or not but Cambiasso taking RCM position, covering for Maicon's defence works, having J.Zanetti in the other wing (with his dribbles, solid defence), would help us play an extra midfielder. If not now, then later on (Kucka, ?)

:)

J.Z. did more in offense than Motta today if you dont count the goal. I dont really rate Motta, because he is a little unstable and sometimes loses the plot. When we play J.Z. on the right its a 4-2-3-1 in reality with Maicon, Wes, Zarate almost always in attack and starting play from deep.

What I want is someone who is able to beat players or make so good passes to them to utilise their abilities in the opponents half rather than Wesley starting the play in our side of the center circle. That is the way we can actually make Wesley, Zarate and even Pazzo more potent. There is no point playing a passing midfielder who still cant really pass the ball beyond the half way line, ie no point playing Motta as DM.

That's because Ranieri played Motta as DM tbh.

Yes King, but do you remember one good attacking pass?

Thats exactly what I'm saying. Motta is the guy who links between midfield and attack and he's playing in Cuchu's role. We will be definetely better if they switch roles and if Motta doesnt agree then lets atleast make the most of Maicon's attacking intent... thats the point I'm making. Motta at DM doesnt give the best balance to the team.

Yeah Suneet, I get you.

Motta ---- Cambiasso ---- Obi

would had been very good for us but sadly or interestingly, its not working it seems. Then again, I wonder how it worked under Mourinho and how it hasn't worked well under the last three coaches. :D

Motta does play in the CM role for Italy as well, right?

http://www.zonalmarking.net/2011/02/10/five-conclusions-from-italy/

Thiago Motta is a good player, but not one that will transform Italy overnight. His main benefit to Italy will be that he’s probably their best ‘all-round’ midfielder, and in a sense (like Marcos Senna with Spain) the Brazilian-born player provides Italy with something they are currently lacking. He should be fitted around the other players Prandelli has in central midfield, however: Montolivo, Alberto Aquilani, Andrea Pirlo and Daniele De Rossi are all potentially more valuable to Italy – Prandelli must make sure Motta’s role is to help emphasise their quality, rather than take away from it.

Ah well, I just hope that it would work for us.

:)

Atalanta 1 - 1 Inter
Inter 4 - 3 Atalanta
Atalanta 3 - 1 Inter

The last 10 games (for Inter) resulted with only 1 loss, 2 draws and 7 victories. I hope we will make 8 the next wednesday :)

this is going to be tough, atalanta are on fire and our schedule is very condensed at the moment

i highly doubt we will be playing our best 11 considering that we started the same lineup twice in one week and that we have to face juventus three days later

I meant to say that may be Motta in the RCM/LCM position is not working (it seems), therefore all of our three coaches after Mourinho have consistently played Motta in the CM in front of defence. OR all of them think that Motta is best utilized there in front of defence.

I think the last time we won in Bergamo was in 08 great game by Mario that day. I think we shouldn't change much but from watching Ranieri on domenica sportiva he said that Milito will be playing a role against Atalanta.

I'm going out on a limb here but I am giving Chivu a vote of confidence in the centre of defence, he's been doing well even though sometimes he worries me with his no nonsense tackling right now I think he should start against Juventus if he does well on Wednesday. As Mou use to say you need a consistent pair in defense and in this calendar year the only two consecutive clean sheets came with our current defensive pairing.
