I guess all those flights and dinners for eriksen negotiations, pushed us over budget.

Question..... does godin leaving opens up an EU spot for Vidal to be able to come???

Apparently, that’s the reason for the hold up.... either because of wages or EU slot.

Godin has a Spanish passport it looks like so I doubt it.

Even if Godin was non-EU, only exits from the league frees a spot. Exit to Cagliari wouldn't have opened non-EU spot for us.

i dont think we have an issue with non EU slots anyway? We get one for free every season + 1 more if we get rid of a non EU player (or get one a passport) to a non-Italian destination.

I guess maybe Sanchez took the slot? But I'd be surprised to be honest? He would probably have used the non-EU slot last year

Yes I don't think he took a spot. Maybe if he returned to Britain, but he never did.

But if we sign Vidal, we can't sign Partey?

Partey should have a Spanish passport, no?

Considering the number of midfielders we still have it is highly unlikely there would be more than 1 midfielder coming in.

According to Romano, Suning have been very clear. No one will arrive unless a player leaves and that's the only thing holding up the deal for Vidal. Inter have reassured Vidal the deal isn't in doubt and there's a two-year contract waiting for him at Inter but he needs to be a bit more patient.

Does that mean if we buy someone with non-EU pass it doesn't take a spot from us if we buy him from the same league?

our first team squad is 32 atm. We need NET ~7 exits. Realistically, that's Esposito, Salcedo, Perisic, Dalbert, Joao Mario, Asamoah, Stankovic. With Godin/Vidal, Pirola/Darmian, Salcedo/Giroud or whoever the fuck, and we'd still have Agoume, Candreva, Vecino.

Need to focus on offloading.

yep

thats why we used to do our chievo magic with Julio Cesar, Kerlon, etc. We'd sign the player, but actually they'd be signed by a smaller club and then we'd pay a fee to transfer them to Inter. Its also why we signed players like Italo, and Milan have done similar, where if on the last day of the transfer window you still haev an unuesed non-EU slot, you sign some random shitter and get rid of him in 6 months time so you get another non-EU slot.

I understand the importance of selling but this guy could be gelling with his teammates right now. Season starts in like a week.

Makes sense. This way the media can recycle the same "in the matter of hours" rubbish till the last hour of the mercato.

This. Like we have a season coming, why not try to improve the chances in every possible way? If this is some fucking order by Zhang, he can honestly suck a dick. Come and buyout Joao Mario at least, since you were the one going after him. He's be costing the club a ton throughout the years and we are still suffering from it.

We sell when we sell, but we can't jeopardize the season which will be very important for this club. Precisely this season. Just get Vidal on board already.
