Thank God they cancelled conscription in my country but it was quite liberal here so if you did not want to serve as conscript, you would serve in civil service.

You don't kill nobady in army, you will just be trained to do so, it's not that bad anyway, but I hate army too, after a war here I hope that I will never see that crapy uniform in my life.

was going to join the RAF, did all the entrance exams etc, was just in my first set of training, then I got ill.. And now I can't.

Same goes for me. Acutally, I'm going to a check-up with the military (called "session", direct translation). Here they will look at my fitness and so on, as well as hear my wishes for military service. I want civil service, as weapons and so doesn't appeal to me at all.

I have never been in army, and never will be. That's because it is canceled, there is only paid soldiers now. It was just like that anyway...

I have a friend, he was in army 2 years ago, and all they did was running one hour, shooting one our, and the rest of the time they were just making jokes and stuff... every second day he was home. That's not the army once was...

here it was mandatory, but I chose community service instead.

community service was a real experience..I'm really glad I didn't join the army as it's nothing but a waste of time.

I've got time, but I think I want to go to the army. It's a honour to me, country like mine cannot have people saying that they don't want to go to the army. We have real possible threats here in face of Siberia aswell, if my life = freedom of the country I'd do it tbh.

Though they may make it pay army by that time. My friend already got the invitation to it thuogh and he is just two years older than me.

I don't have any choice either, but I want to go as well because I know my coutry needs me and I'd like to contribute.

A few days ago there was a day of tests for commando units, I passed, and today I passed another series of tests, if I pass one more in March I'll be commanding one of those soon :

My Dad and a good buddy serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. I would join but then I'd just be another slave to the government and then they can send you wherever they want and I just plain love my city too much to ever leave.

RAF is good, but you've gotta be amazing to make it. If your eyes are perfect, you don't get injured often, haven't broken bones within a certain time, never had asthma and don't have any other underlying illnesses then they'll at least give you an interview

Fitness test is nothing special, it's just when you get into initial training it hits you. Those first 5 weeks were the best fun I ever had anyway
