They were too generous with Conte if you ask me.

Both Conte and Marotta willi give a press conference tomorrow at 2pm CET.

Due to some technical issues, press conference will take place on Friday instead of Thursday. Same time.

Enough time to annouce new Inter CEO and coach is Conte. Marotta to be assistant CEO.

First move, skriniar to tottenham for 40M + bonuses. Rano out also for free. Candreva and Ninja for 1M total. Darmian in. Emerson in. New revolution in football; 1 CB plus endless WBs.

Really, can you be anymore dramatic n4l?

Why don't you start with Hakimi and Sanchez for free. I'm sure you were angry about those deals too, right? We know your stance on Lukaku deal and how we got "screwed" with icardi sale as only morons would sell him despite him being cancer from inside the club. It's meaningless after all.

Just show some optimism for a change. Unless you think last season was a clear prove we are falling down the cliff...

On a serious note, what makes you think giving Conte carte blanche will lead to more success vs mess up the balance/tension between coach and mercato team?

Oh, my bad.

Oh, absolutely not! I'm not in favor of giving a coach whatever he wants. Definitely I wouldn't give a coach carte blanche as it's dangerous. Same as just not giving a shit about the coach and his requests and having attitude as DS "You will coach whomever I give you". I think neither is sustainable.

It's all about balance. As a DS, on one hand not satisfying the coach seems a lose position from a get go. It's like hiring gasperini, not signing decent wingbacks and complaining the team plays like shit. On the other, giving the coach anything he wants can then lead to many years of mediocrity if that coach is sacked with a team that does not suit another coach or his philosophy. As a DS, you always have to be 3 steps ahead, thinking about the life after current coach. That's a definition of smart DS for me. But if you want to maximize the chance of a team winning as a DS, the closer you get to what coach desires the more you maximize his chance of success.

It's a fine line for sure.

I don't think Conte has a carte blanche at Inter. Not in the least. I think Eriksen purchase is proof of that. On the other hand, I think Marotta is doing his best to satisfy Conte, but without going too crazy (apparent rule Suning ordered of not signing many aged players). This season is unique so I don't count this season as all over Europe weird things happen. But Conte got Lukaku, he got Vidal so we are trying to give him his team. We signed Hakimi.

I think Marotta is trying to find this balance with our limited money source and I would give him a very good grade for it. I think last season was great progress and now with Conte staying, team reinforced and not weakend (Hakimi especially) we should and have to expect even more progress with the same coach as the team should learn more and more what coach wants.

Don't you agree in principle?

As for now I’m not exactly impressed with how we've been operating, after the decision to continue with Conte. To me it looks like we’ve given him the freedom to turn the squad into a complete mess. We’re letting Godin go in order to save 50k in wages, most likely showing Skriniar the door for way under value because they don’t fit the system. Then we’re adding grandpas like Vidal, Kolarov and probably Darmian who’s just an inferior player to whoever his replacing, be it at RWB or RCB. All of this is incredibly short sighted because we’ve basically agree to wreck any sort of project we had for the future. When he’s gone after the end of this season it’s gonna be another year 0.
Also keep in mind that we’ve publicly announced that winning the scudetto is not mandatory this season, which gives Conte perfect excuse not to win it.

Conte is reinventing 352 as 172, I think we have something special incoming.

Back then we had Pep shifting Busquets to CB as ball playing defender, now we have Conte revolutionising 3 men defense playing 2 full backs in 3 men defense doing actual overlapping work attacking space.

I can smell the triplete already.

Enjoy the historical moment, guys.

Don't use logic to assess things when you have people like Conte and Marotta running the club. I am sure the scotch tape trick to solve Inter problem will make things worse for Inter. I don't think it's wise to use Kolarov in a three man defence because he will be raped by any opponent winger but that's Conte's problem.

I have to wonder what is the plan in defence.

I'm okay with our starting 3 being Bastoni-De Vrij-D'ambrosio, and having Kolarov and Frog on the bench. It seems like we are interested in different players that we can get when we sell Skriniar - the main two being Milenković and Smalling, with also Darmian coming.

How much does our starting line up change when we get two new defenders? Who can adequatly replace Godin? Can Smalling even play RCB???

Makes sense when you downgrade from your top 2 side to a top 5 side within a month.

Watch how half our rivals will be without key players for covid while we get the 2nd spot and claim victory and great progress...
