Completely agree with Stefano. This dude has the talent and the mentality. Like I said in the other thread, we have been spoilt at Inter with some quality CB's.

He was quite good when he first came. His reflexes and judgement were much better, he even looked faster too. I think that injury fucked him.

He is really young for a CB.A slow CB like Ranocchia will depend on his positioning skills and it will take some time to reach Samuels level.Lucio had worse games when he was young but we can see where he is now.

I don't hate Ranocchia.I was just saying that i expected more from him and i don't think that knee injury is excuse for his bad games. If he had problems with injury than he shouldn't play games against Bayern & Schalke. He must improve his positioning,he is young and i hope he will be much better, but ATM he is class behind Lucio & Samuel.

RANOCCHIA GUARANTEES: "INTER ARE A MARTELLO."

The defender was a student of the new coach of Inter at Genoa: "Concrete and scrupulous."

Milan - Andrea Ranocchia, how are you doing?
"I'm well, thank you. Finally I could rest. I am on vacation but I go to the gym everyday to maintain muscle tone in the knee. I do believe that the risk has been removed but I want to get to the point where during the season I will no longer stop because of injuries."

What do you think of you first semester at Inter?
"In a year I switched from inactivity due to knee surgery at Genoa to Inter who won the World Championship. I struggled to get used to play every three days instead of seven but I gritted my teeth. We closed the season with the Italian Cup. And I must say thanks to Leonardo now that I have grown up."

Are you surprised that the Brazilian is now gone?
"I was in Slovenia, isolated from everything and everyone. I got a piece of information here and there and I did not want to believe it because after the victory in Roma, I saw him very happy and convinced that he would continue on the bench. I don't think that anyone expected it. As soon as the waters calm down a little bit, I'll call him."

On the other than, have you already called Gasperini?
"No, not even a text message. So I will see him again soon..."

In Genoa, both worked together for about four months. Enough time to figure each other out?
"I still have much to learn. I was there for a few months but immediately, he gave me the confidence. When he was sacked in November because things were bad that's when I called him right away. I never understood the reasons for his dismissal. Maybe his cycle with the Rossoblu in the previous seasons is over. With me, Gasperini had infinite patience because at first I struggled to understand his ideas and tactics to apply those things on the field. Then we understood each other quickly. He also asked the defenders to go up and I enjoyed it a lot."

Is it true that Gasperini is not going to go with the more popular players but he will only judge what he sees in training?
"It's true. He knows that if you work well during the week then you can make a difference at the right moment of a game. He keeps everyone on the rope and his formation will not be given until the last minute."

What is Gasperini like?
"For his personality and commitment, he reminds me of Antonio Conte. They believe in two different formations but both are determined and attentive to details, tactically as well as psychologically. Gasperini with his assistant Luca Tricci will have us well prepared by showing the tapes of what we did right and wrong. He is very composed in attitudes. If you act like a professional, he will leave you in peace. If you mess up tactically or showing bad behavior, he will let you know. His lectures will be in private."

But some think that he doesn't have what it takes to handle a dressing room like at Inter.
"Gasperini has crucial experience as a player and then a lot of experience as a coach in different ranks in Italian football at Crotone and Genoa. This is not easy because of the ambitious and demanding fans. The size of Inter is also new to him so the club and the players must help him."

Another voice of skepticism: Gasperini's style is very demanding and it is hard to recover every three days.
"I don't know if that rate will be lowered or more changes will be made. I must also adapt to the new reality and perhaps but their beliefs into question."

Do you think he will bring with him Palacio and Criscito?
"Any request will be deemed just because those players are good enough for Inter. Here you get only the best."

On August 6 there is the Super Cup. There is a risk that he does not have time to assimilate his belief of football?
"At Inter players are hungry, smart, flexible and above all we have seen everything. We need to behind the coach and in Beijing we will be ready to take revenge over Milan. Winning the Super Cup would give the enthusiasm to all and the belief that the path mapped out by the new coach is the right one."

Do you believe that Gasperini will focus immediately on three defenders?
"Sometimes we played with four at Genoa but with two training sessions a day, that all the time we need to get used to it."

No Materazzi at Inter...
"A big loss. For my part, Marco was an older brother and he was helping all the youngsters to settle. Nagatomo will be very sad. Now with whom will he be messing with in the dressing room?"

The Matrix part makes me sad...

Still can't believe he left us. I honestly don't understand why. How many 37/8 year old players leave a top club they love, and have legend status at, for more regular football? How many 37 year old players haven't retired yet anyway? I really hope he doesn't go to EPL :palm: last thing we need is to see him getting butchered in their fast league.

We got reminded when Mourinho left us though: can't stop ambition.

I wonder who'll take Materazzi's place in the dressing room and act as a mentor to the youngsters? For what it's worth, I remember Santon saying that Samuel (Walter) was like a father to him, but no one has the charisma that Matrix has/had.

Inter are what

Hammer.

---------- Post added at 13:33 ---------- Previous post was at 13:25 ----------

I dont remember seeing a WC CB at this age.... We have been spoilt at Inter with Lucio's, Samuels, Materazzi's.

Yes, he is just 23.

Where were other classy CBs at this age?

Who was Matrix at 23? We are speaking 1995-1996.... Serie B, 1 match / season....
Lucio? He was on his first year at Leverkusen.
Samuel? OK, he was the starter in champ Roma.

So he is on a good way. We must value him. Statistics, Prandelli's chocie etc. everything on his side.

He'd be awful, but seeing him hack down some EPL strikers would bring a smile to my face.

Next question
Wasn't he supposed to have a knee surgery?
Any news on this?

Ranocchia must be at his best from the beginning so he can fight a spot with Lucio/Walter Samuel.
