Andrea Ranocchia signs five-year contract

MILAN - The documents relating to Inter and Genoa's co-ownership of defender Andrea Ranocchia have been registered at the Lega Serie A's offices.

Born in Bastia Umbria on 16 February 1988, Ranocchia started out at Perugia before making his professional debut for Arezzo in Serie B at the age of 18. He then helped Bari to a promotion spot before making his Serie A debut. Ranocchia, who has represented Italy at every youth level, made his debut for the Under-21 side when still 19. With Inter he has signed a five-year deal until 30 June 2015.

FC Internazionale and Genoa have agreed that Andrea Ranocchia will play for the Liguria club in 2010/11.

He got a call to Italy's U21 squad. He's already 22 but apparently he's available for them since he was 21 in this year (birthday February).

He is availlable because he was 21 when the qualifying for the next major comp started. That's how it works at under age level. Personnally think he should have been in the senior squad but I suppose there is time for it.

Obviously he wasn't in the senior squad because he's not good enough for that team yet. He needs time for recovery so that's why he's only in the U21 side. Probably he will make it to the senior squad during the season if he remains injury-free.

He is better then those who were called and he showed it last season...He is better then bonucci and lucchini and showed it last season. It was obviously an conservative move by prandeli.

Scored for Italian U21 today in his first competitive game since ages and hit a crossbar too. But he was in a defence that conceeded 2 goals. Crisetig made his debut too in that game.

Saw the highlights- It was a cool header though nothing spectacular. Also the first goal scored by Denmark was from a set piece (corner kick). I didn't see the second goal they scored though, however I think Paloschi got the first for Italy then Ranocchia got the second.
