what? did you watch Medel in the same game vs Chievo? He would constantly abandon his position and rush forward to apply pressure up the pitch. same goes for Miranda and Murillo vs Atalanta, milan, and carpi, i remember a few times when one of our centerbacks would be caught out from pressing too high but there was enough cover and another centerback to close down space.

I love the double standard in how you criticize ranocchia for being positionally weak but nothing is said about juan jesus, santon, and medel. you're grasping at straws to scapegoat Ranocchia for our bad defense last season because he did something all our defenders do in a very brief cameo in the second half vs chievo.. he was by far our best and most reliable defender last season, no matter what people may say. If he had made some of medel and murillo's mstakes vs Milan his thread would have turned into a straight up crucifixion.

Ranocchia is almost always caught out? out of anyone else in our df, he was least caught out last season. He also played in a very different Inter side covered by Kuzmanovic, Hernanes, Medel, and Kovacic vs Melo, Guarin, Kondogbia. While Miranda was getting caught out last season in Simeone's Atletico. He doesn't have the persona to have the armband but let me guess, Mauro "MI9" Icardi has it? rano played with his heart every game last season, along with JJ he is the only player that is genuinely tied to this club. He also grew a lot as a leader last season. there were many, many games when it seemed like he was putting the entire defense on his shoulders.

still, he needs to leave. not suited to mancini's tactics, not a starter, too expensive to be a backup. do i agree his game suffers from lapses in concentration? yes. do i think if he played in a well organized team we would be talking about a top defender? also, yes. everyone here agrees walter samuel has been our best centerhalf, if not serieas best alongalide nesta over the past 10 years. and yet they never talk about his tme at real madrid. he was a total disaster in a high line behind guti-beckham, only took a year for his game to totally regress. and yet people don't see ranocchia has been put in the same,if not much worse circumstances at inter and he has performed admriably. at one point he was even the best defender in the league in the first half of strama's season here.

and aside from all of that, the last thing andrea desreves is disrespect. he wore our armband with pride, im going to be ripped to shreds for this but i was prouder to have him as captain than icardi because he is a true interista. if we were relegated, icardi and everyone else in this "new inter" would jump ship but i could see ranocchia staying here. say what you will about him, and i can totally understand most of the criticism he gets if i dont agree with a lot of it, but dont exagerrate and dont insult the guy because he deserves better.

I still thought he had a couple bad moments, played Kalinic onside, went for a foul from the back on, and made one bad pass giving possession over close to goal. He does play a calm game despite errors.

He's better than Medel when we play with back 4, but Mancini didn't realize it and keep playing Medel, while destroying Rano's confidence.

I don't like Rano, and I'd pick Miranda and Murillo over him any time of the day, but not fucking Medel, who has almost zero position awareness.

I don't know why or how, but Guarin and Ranocchia consistently have suitors. Gazzetta dello Sport says Liverpool are willing to pay €18m, which reeks of bullshit tbh. Guarin will probs stay here until at least next summer, but we might be able to sell him near the money we paid to Porto.

I can. Rano is pretty similar to his CBs in Dormund. Hummels is way better of course, but Subotic is exactly like Rano. Slow, brainfart prone, but good positioning and sense. And Klopp loves tall defenders, both Hummels and Subotic are taller than 1.90, around 1.93 would be my guess.

Also Klopp wanted Rano in Dortmund few years ago as well.
