Crespo, Figo, I
Alvaro Recoba was on fine form for Inter, but took the opportunity to slam his critics and look to his future away from the San Siro.

?I don?t feel respected here and I have said it before,? noted the Uruguayan when picking up his Man of the Match award.

?I always do my duty, sometimes well and in other occasions not so well, but always with respect for everyone. I don?t feel the same is done for me.?

Recoba scored one and set up the other goal in today?s 2-0 win at Ancona, a match that saw him earn a rare starting place.

?I have never caused problems for anybody at this club and I have always thought about the good of Inter in all my actions,? he continued.

?I am happy here, but I don?t know that I will do in the future. I have been at Inter for many years now, although from the number of times I have actually played you?d hardly know it. I must take this situation by the scruff of the neck.?

These bitter statements have sparked speculation that he will move out at the end of this season.

There is already reportedly overseas interest from Barcelona and Manchester United, although Recoba could hook up with his old Venezia Coach Walter Novellino at high-flying Sampdoria.

there u go :) enjoy...,
i hope admin is o.k with this :)

Ahhh, you know the media. Comments like that will get blown out of proportion and the Recoba to xXx stories will appear out of nowhere. As if they're willing to afford his wages. :p

Oh I can't deci
Got to watch the game live!

As for the team in general, they played uninspired. For some reason, Inter relies heavily on individual brilliance instead of effective teamwork. I noticed that alot of our offense consisted of one player trying to take on the whole opposing defense. Im really woried about Adriano though, he seems really unhappy and unmotivated. I hope this is just bad form and not the Inter illness.

As for Recoba, a splendid display, by far the most creative and effective player on the pitch. Although, sometimes I felt like he was trying too hard to make this his show, he took ALL the free kicks, albeit most of them were very well kicked but he should have at least given Cruz or Adriano a couple chances. When making his runs, he tried way too hard to be flashy and sometimes gave up the ball as the cause of this, like I said...individual brilliance remains supreme over teamwork. I was a bit upset over comments after the game though, sure he played a hell of a game but what about the countless other times he's sucked. If you want respect Recoba, better play like this alot more often.

Zac is probably more stubborn than Cuper as he insists on playing Helveg. Not only does he suck at attacking, he takes capitano spot on the right where he's most effective, annoying to say the least.

Good win, but considering it was Ancona Im not too convinced that this should be any indication that the situation is improving.

I agree that this is Ancona and we should have won it but there was lots of pressure on our players most of it put on them by themselves...Hopefully its just the begining of playing better, and that the Benfica games will tell us alot.I agree with everyone as Helveg should not start and we have to get Adriano more involved in games find ways to get him the ball when he is in good pisitions and not surrounded by 3Ancona players

I am surprised and relieved to hear Il Chino's comments. Surprised because i always thought he will be happy as long as he gets his cheque and plays the odd game. Now i am relieved to hear that he is demanding a starting role in the team. Unfortunately, sometimes if you don't act like a jerk or create a fuss you don't get chosen for every game. Some people want to be quiet but still get considered but unfortunately your voice will be ignored.

Recoba is 27 and not a kid anymore, he knows it and he wants to demonstrate his talent. All the inter coaches ignored him or played him out of position and his inconsistency didn't help either. It's time for us to give him a full chance and time for him to live up to his words and potentials.
If Recoba was such a talent, then he would have shone no matter which position he played in. Yes, he was terribly inconsistent, but that boils down to the fundamental point that Recoba was never as willing to play his heart out for the club as the fans would have wanted him to.

There have been many times in the past where we have played Recoba in various positions; the end result was still the same - he didn't perform as expected. To say that this is his last chance is simply giving the impression that if he plays well after one game, all the fans are again going to give him the benefit of the doubt, something that we have relented time and time again.

Ciao,
Tim

And this whole Vieri thing is getting on my last nerves. Adriano and Cruz did suck. But do we always have to compare Adriano´s critizism with Vieri´s?
Getting your nerves already? :)

I have listened that Vieri bullshit at least a year already and yes, it´s getting on my nerves as well. That´s one of the biggest reason i post rarely nowdays. I´ve just had enough of it. Constant whining/bashing ain´t fun to read.

Well said. Many fans are biased against Adriano because they feel he has taken Vieri's spot and made Vieri dispensable.
I have nothing against Adriano and i just criticized him ´cause he hasn´t been any good. Isn´t that fair? I never expect one striker/player to win any games for us anyway. All players need plenty of help to score/play good.

Difference being that Vieri has been critizised without comparence to other players. ;)

But now it seems if I give out constructive critizism (which I believe I have done) to Vieri, I have to rate Adriano in the same exact formula. Which is impossible since they´re different players.

And admit, Tommi, that you´re slightly anti-Adriano. ;) I haven´t seen you say a single good thing about him. :D

What did i say to compare Vieri and Adriano? I just said that Adriano gave away more balls than Vieri did when he (Vieri) was out of form. Nothing more.

I´m anti-Adriano now?

Ok, thanks. In my opinion, he´s most promising striker in the world. At Parma he was simply awesome. What can i say about anyone without being accused to be anti-whoever? Maybe i just better leave these forums behind and start living my life.

Can´t i just be Inter fan without being accused Vieri lover and anti-whoever?

Let's play Recoba as a support striker for 6-7 consecutive games and then judge him. I agree with you about his inconsistency but you have to admit that we never gave him enough chances. Instead, we pin our hopes on him for big matches -like the european derby last year- and then crucify him for not shining. I was one of those that critized him heavily last year but we should've given him more chances then judge.

Put yourself in his shoes now; you almost always start from the bench although you are more talented than some of the forwards. You stay patient but then you see new comers (like Adriano) or players that haven't been producing (like Vieri before his recent revival) chosen ahead of you. You want to show the fans your worth but then you don't get enough chances to prove it. Then you're thrown in tough situations, you fail and then the knives are out.

Now what Recoba has to do is simple. If I was Recoba i will hand the club an ultimatum. Demand a starting position or asked to be sold in the summer. Then I will do my best to show my worth and if i fail i bare full responsibility. This will be good for the club since everyone will compete and may the best striker win.

Adriano - #10
Recoba should be played more and if he still doesn't fit the bill at seasons end, sell him....

Though I was impressed by his performance yesterday and IMO we should consistently start him...

I hope you don't think i accused you of being anti-Adriano. I just read some comments during the game of people complaining about Adriano's chances and comparing them with Vieri's. I absolutely didn't accuse anyone of that i just said there is bias against him. Some fans get emotional and blame Adriano for the missed chances and that's understandable. He just needs time to adapt and it's not fair to compare his situation with Vieri's mini-crisis earlier. I too was accused of being Anti-Vieri when i just criticized him.

To all those who have been needlessly arguing over players and their performances, this is all i can say - It is a rough time for Inter and it's fans. So of course we're bound to get more edgy, and this is evident in our posts. All i hope for, is that we learn to respect and understand each other's opinions. I don't wish to see anybody leave because they feel that they are being hounded by other posters who don't share their view on the issues important to themselves.

Did i overreact perhaps? :D

Just to let you and everybody else know that i am not anti-Adriano. I adore Vieri, but that doesn´t mean i dont like Adriano. Adriano is the future of Inter, hopefully. Hopefully he stays with us even if/when we struggle and i also hope he doesn´t listen to Ronaldo´s advice´s and wanna leave after few seasons.

No i didn´t think that. It´s all ok.

Well, it doesn't take a soccer genius to realise that Adriano has taken a quite big dip in form since joining us. Although he scored 5 goals in his first few starts, the Brazillian has failed to find the back of the net since February at the second leg of the Coppa Italia Semi-Final. But of course, Adriano has only been donning the Nerazzurra jersey for only 2 months, excluding his previous little spell in 01/02, and definitely deserve more chance.

Bout Vieri, he obviously didn't score as much as last season where he was phenomenal but his scoring rate is still very good and last time I checked, he's our top scorer this season. ;) Tim, yeah, I remember our bet!!! :D

When Adriano will have to play less with Vieri, he´ll probably manage better. Hopefully for his sake and Inters, Vieri is gone next year.
