Even if Recoba said he wouldn't play for another Italian club, I'd like to see him play for one. I mean this league suits him well and at a club like Sampdoria (hey imagine Recoba-Vieri once again) he might find the great form he once had and be highly regarded once again in the world of football.
Keep on dreaming guys, it's to late for him to make a miracle comeback, and I don't think we will see him in another Italian team if he leave, and that is exactly the point IF he leaves (which I truly doubt) then he most likly will go to another league he might even return to his home country.
Ive never been a fan but he does show brillance at times and his fitness is always a question but his love for the club gets the nod for me I hope he does resign...
We'll see. It looks the most probable that he'll leave us now. I've seen him been linked to Bolton (as read at angelo's great Inter site) but I see South America as a more likely destination. Not only the Uruguayan teams like Penarol, Nacional and Danubio, but maybe an Argentinian or Brazilian team as well. The sure thing is that he looks to be done at Inter. We're we sure we wanted him we would've renewened the contract months ago (as with Cruz). Now he has 11 hours and 45 minutes left on his contract and I think he's calling his team-mates and Inter staff to say goodbye. He will leave space for something better and, above all, more consistent.
Its sad too see one of the longest serving servants of the club leave, but now would be the right time. I always thought el chino could have done more (watch his goal against reggina this season) and score more goals like this one. He'll free up lots of money in wages and id love to see him in England.
Today is D-day, I guess. I hope at least Inter.it has the common sense and respect to say if he will leave, and not do like they have done with everyone else. Just remove him from the squad without a single word. Recoba has during all these years, earned that much at least.
I don't want him to extend, but in days like these, you cannot help but to feel nostalgic. I can even remember the day after he scored his first two goals for the team. He has been here ever since I started to REALLY follow Inter on a daily basis. Used to be my favourite player and everything (those oldies from Xtratime will remember my nickname ).
Striker Alvaro Recoba looks set to leave Inter Milan after nine years at the club.
Chief Massimo Moratti has admitted that despite being a big fan of the Uruguayan, it would perhaps be best for both the club and the player if they parted company.
He told www.channel4.com:"I can't hide the fact that Recoba is a player who I have great affection for."
"However, I don't know whether it would be best for him to stay here and hardly play or join another club, play well and help them win.
"I would obviously be happy to see him play all of the time, but I can't obligate anyone to do that seeing as I have no right to."
The comments seem to be a reference to Inter coach Roberto Mancini who is not convinced of Recoba's level of consistency.
Recoba moved to the San Siro in the summer of 1997 from Nacional Montivideo.
Yeah, i want matrix and recoba to stay for 1 more year to celebrate 2006 2007 scudetto, it's going to be remembered for the first clean scudetto in many years.... and they deserve to be there.
