People forgot how bad he was in his last season with us, when Inzaghi basically benched him. We just were dreaming of a future without Correa. In the end, they were both equally useless. No on pitch contributions and always injured. It was a smart move by Marotta to try, but made no difference, especially with Correa destined to be back here in June.

Arnautovic was a bad idea, this was a move from a club that didn't have the budget at all to find correa replacement, which for me was an acceptable option given the other free options available and the last season he had in france.

Where we had actual options with those ten mils we spend on arna, that's where we fucked up.

Yup - this was a last minute decision where we saw an opportunity to possibly sell Correa for 12-15 million which is about as good as we can hope for. I don't think we had any budget on top of that so it was always going to be a free agent.

Regarding this recent injury, it seems to just be muscle fatigue so potentially one or two games out. Ideally he's ready for Bologna as that's where we need to rotate.

The problem is that it wasn't the choice at the time. When we let Dzeko go, the intention was to have Lautaro, Lukaku, and Thuram as the main 3 strikers. At that point, Dzeko on a big salary wasn't an option. Also Dzeko wanted a 2-year deal I believe. In hindsight, keeping Dzeko would have been better, but the Lukaku situation wasn't expected by our management.

We really should have let the whole Lukaku idea go at the end of last season though.
