Don't blame him that much, that was not his position. We'll see him in the weekend in a more comfortable position.

His position or not, his decision making and individual skill have been crap. He lost way too many balls, and aside that, what pissed me.off completely is that he NEVER played direct football or pass fast, but he always HAD to hug the ball and eventually lose it. I can remember on 3 or 4 situations he had open teammates but decided to.keep.the ball at his feet.

Awful, arguably our worst player tonight. Hopefully he picks it up at the weekend.

I think he is a lost cause. I acknowledge that he is coming off a long term injury and that he is rusty but he is low on confidence and appears to struggle in executing on even the most simplest of things. It is frustrating because the ball goes to him and you see a great deal of effort but the output or end result is always disappointing.

I will be very surprised if that pattern changes against Udinese over the weekend regardless of the position in which he starts.

Personally, I would rather Esposito start up front alongside Lukaku with Eriksen playing behind rather than have Sanchez as a starter. Esposito came on for only a few minutes but he drew fouls, shielded the ball from opponents and played with purpose. In comparison, Sanchez simply appears to be playing but that is about as far as it goes.

I am sorry if this post sounds unnecessarily harsh. Like many posters on here, i would love for Sanchez to wind back the clock and find his form and scoring touch for the benefit of Inter and at the expense of Manchester United but I cannot shake the feeling that alot of time has passed since he made a difference and that his present predicament is more than just a simple dip in form.

I personally think it’s just coming off injury stuff. He would do better in the next games if he starts up front with Lukaku.

This guy is just lacking match fitness and sharpness. With older players it takes a few games more to get it back. Sensi is suffering from the same thing right now.

For those who thinks he’s just lacking match sharpness - last night was a snapshot of Sanchez entire time at United and last half season at Arsenal (arguably even slightly longer).

He loses the ball a criminal amount, his decision making is dire and generally upsets the flow of the team.

Even at his peak for Arsenal, I couldn’t wait to get rid of him. The guy was a liability who played for himself and only himself.

I don't get how it is so easy for some of you to hate on the guy.

Just returned from injury, played in a role he has never taken ever in his career and was improving as the game progressed.

I don't see the same people criticizing our worst player last night which was none other than Lukaku. Not even a mention of how below par his performance was. And then I see people talking ill of Lautaro who was our biggest threat as usual.

I'm glad we have the 6th highest earning football player in the world for these specialized tasks :yao:

Not a single decent moment last night. Slow and laggy decision making, poor on the ball, poor passing, poor everything. And him being played out of position isn't an excuse here, he didn't fail at his position's proprietary tasks - he failed at basic ass things as well. I doubt he will improve much, but I do expect him to bang in 5 or 6 goals until the end of the season because... well, it really can't be that hard, I would expect Frog to be able to do that.

If we are being honest - this guy is what not all that long ago used to constitute as a fraud in the football world.

I spent years watching him at Arsenal and subsequently at United - the guy will pop up with the odd goal but what you saw last night is not far off the kind of performances he was churning out for Manchester United and in the final few months of his spell at Arsenal.

He gets dispossessed an Ungodly amount. It has nothing to do with "hating" on the guy and rather just accurately assessing what was a crap performance to add to the long list of consecutive shit performances he's churned out over the last couple years.

We can find excuses about him but the fact is this move hasn't worked for us so far. It took him a while to regain his fitness, he had a good performance against the worst team of the league at the time (Sampdoria), a positive performance at Camp Nou but then he got injured. Last night it was his first start since his return and he was really poor in a position that doesn't suit him. There's only one word to describe Alexis stint at Inter so far. Disappointment. Thankfully there's still time for Alexis to make himself useful for the team.

You are talking about a guy who wanted to leave Arsenal and never really had any intention to join Man Utd. Of course you haven't seen him do well, he didn't give a shit.

When he came here he was amongst the best players whenever he played until that fucked up Cuadrado injury. He was performing really well for Chile as well before coming here during the period you're talking about.
He has refound his joy to play football and all this nonsense bh Solksjaer wanting him to return and him recovering from an injury has surely affected him, but he's not a lost cause. Maybe only if he's forced to follow up on his decision to get top money from a shit club he doesn't want to be at.

I think people criticize him, rightly so, from Fio game.

He will show his worth in the next couple of days. The lad is super talented.

He will be better when he's used as a forward. Last night was horror show, he had no clue what to do. Lautaro and Sanchez played well together in autumn in those few games (not many but at least against Barcelona).
