Alessandro Bastoni is on Bayern Munich’s transfer list for this summer, according to a report in the Italian media.
The Bundesliga champions are looking to sign another talented young centre-back after securing Dayot Upamecano from RB Leipzig a few weeks ago.
FcInterNews.it reported on Monday night that Bastoni, along with Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, are Bayern’s main two targets after they baulked at Napoli’s €60-70 million asking price for Kalidou Koulibaly.
Bayern have shown their appreciation for the 21-year-old by making contact with his entourage, although nothing has gone beyond a simple enquiry for now.
Bastoni’s agent Tulio Tinti is on good terms with Bayern after helping take Luca Toni to Bavaria back in 2007, a connection Bayern may try to exploit to secure a deal.
Inter’s economic problems could also play in their favour, with the report suggesting the Nerazzurri could be tempted to balance the books with a high-profile sale.
In any case, Bastoni’s future seems set to be at Inter because the defender is prioritising remaining with the Serie A leaders.
Inter have already reached an agreement in principle with his entourage for a contract extension, which would see Bastoni’s wages rise to around €2.4-2.5 million annually, plus €1 million in add-ons.
