I expect Man U to target Diogo Costa as their keeper for next year, however I wouldn't be surprised to see them turn their attention to Onana. He has played under ten Hag and although it seems their budget is somewhat limited with their ownership situation in flux, I think they could potentially meet Inter's asking price.

If Onana is sold to a PL side I would want Gugliemo Vicario as the replacement, quite the downgrade from his ability to distribute from the back but he could be a better pure shot stopper than Onana and has already proven himself in the league. I'm sure Juve would be all over him to replace Woj if it weren't for their financial situation.

Vicario is also linked with Fiorentina

There was a rumor that Porto doesn't want to reduce from 75mln asking price for Costa. Therefore Man U switched to other targets.

A good goalkeeper is half of a good team, it is pointless to sell Onana and then spend money to get another gk, honestly I like him but Onana has more "presence" on the pitch.

Don't have one.
Empoli president:
Even this morning a big italian club called me knowing everything, even more than me. And they told me that they could sell their goalkeeper abroad and would be interested in Vicario. Friendship also counts for me and for several months they have expressed their interest in him. Fiorentina didn't talk to us.
Goodbye onana, welcome vicario I guess...

Actually I don't see who will buy Onana, despite we are desperate to sell. It looks like Chelsea are out, and yesterday I read that Man U considering Pickford for 45 mln. There are no other linked clubs.

Think it will be chelsea at the end, they are just taking time to sort the bags of money saudi gifted them.

President Empoli: “There is an Italian team on Vicario. Inter? I do not deny. The boy has done extraordinary things and deserves a big. Then it will also depend on his will, there are more opportunities and let's see who wins. If I say more, I hurt them too”.

yes, it's pretty safe to say that if Onana leaves, this is the guy to replace him. And it will probably happen, cause Onana's sale gives Inter more money to spend on other much needed positions.

You can't sell someone if there are no willing buyers.

Still think he'll be sold to Chelsea as part of a Lukaku deal. It will be late July to mid August before it's done. Don't want it, but I can see it happen, unless an Arab club offers Lukaku crazy money again, late.

What has Vicario done to command such a fee?

Nvm it’s CDS spreading false bullshit again.

Lol. Vicario was 20 mln just about a week ago. Until the moment we sell Onana, his price will be 40mln most probably.

The price is fixed most probably. Smaller Serie A sides like Empoli will never use this dirty tactic as top 5 Serie A clubs is their bread and butter. Beppe is the most respected GM in Italy .

This is Di Marzion's article

Inter, Onana-Vicar: who is better with their feet?

But which of the two goalkeepers would benefit Simone Inzaghi's game? As we know, the former Lazio coach prefers building from below and the goalkeeper of his teams must necessarily be "good with his feet". A feature that by now all modern goalkeepers who want to reach a certain level must have.

The current Inter goalkeeper, Onana, immediately showed that he knows how to do it: to tell the truth, viewers have often found it difficult to understand which was the Cameroonian's favorite foot. Right, left, little changes for the former Ajax. But if Vicario were to arrive, would Inzaghi have the same certainties? Spoilers, yes.

The Empoli player, in fact, lived his last season under the guidance of Paolo Zanetti, a young coach with a mania for the beautiful game. Ball on the ground is the must of the former Venice and, inevitably, even Vicario had to adapt. And the numbers say that he can do it.

As reported by the Fbref.com portal, it can be seen that the average number of touches of the ball in the ninety minutes of last season were similar to those of Onana: 44.19 by the Italian goalkeeper against 43.81 by the Cameroonian. In addition to this, Vicario tried much less for the long clearance: only 5.5 times on average compared to the Nerazzurri goalkeeper's 6.49 average attempts.

Vicario also surpasses Onana for the number of passes completed in Serie A (923 against 837). In short, if the 1996 class were to leave Tuscany in the direction of Milan, Inzaghi would have found the perfect replacement for goal.

I didn’t watch him much but those stats can be misleading. Key things should be considered are how many passes from goalkeeper are created chances or unlock high pressure, how does he command backline, how does he handle high ball and shots stopping.

Yeah I'm pretty confident Handanovic had more touches than Onana, but that's because he was playing passes with Skriniar and De Vrij until everyone else moved in a position to receive the ball from them.
With Onana that's become smoother, although he does love to get the ball a lot more than your average GK.
