Ever since COVID all our transfers have been pure banter, minus Hakimi. We've been transported right back in time to 2013.

Re-signing Eder, a player who was never even that good to begin with, at the age of 34, having spent the last 3 years playing in the Chinese League, at a fat €5m cost, is just pure surrealism - the kind of stuff that makes you legitimately question what is reality and whether life is indeed nothing but a cruel and controlled simulation like the Truman Show. It's the kind of impossible, hyperbolic, joke scenario made up on the spot for a cheap laugh.. except it's actually real.

While this club in particular is notorious for our storied history of horrendous signings, note that "bad" signings like Quaresma are an entirely separate category to "banter" signings like Kolarov and Rocchi. Signing, or even considering Eder, is the single-most banter moment this club has seen since the infamous John Carew trial.

I personally don't care that much about Kolarov, Eder, Young, Darmian or Rocchi Carew type-of-deals back then tbh. I know it is frustrating to see Inter being flooded with elderly, but they cost next to nothing and won't stick to us much. They are here as gap-filler, to drain minutes here and there and that's it. Why bother them?

The true killers blocking our market are the younger flops. To be more specific, Nainggolan, Lazaro, Mario, Vecino or Eriksen, Perisic to some extent. Even freaking Brazao who costed more than all the elderly combined (6m), yet we are still looking for a Handanovic replacement.

Buying cheap isn't problem, but buying failed expensive is.

Kolarov, Eder(if completed), Young and Darmian cost us a total of 30m. With that you could buy a good player that will actually be helpful to the team. Sure, a Darmian here and there isn't that bad, but the others are 25m worth of waste. Isn't it better to get one player like Thiago, Castagne, Allan, Lo Celso, Tonali, Veretout, Ferran Torres, Roca, Szoboszlai, Volland, Hojberg etc and fill up the rest of the roster spots that aren't even being used by Primavera kids or backup loanees than getting 5 average or below players that aren't good enough to feature for more than 5-10 games a year, if any?

Just look at who Conte plays, before the 5 sub rule actually. It's pretty much the same list of players and it's not a very big list. We need to add quality, not quantity. We've always had quantity.

I do agree with the other part of your post, we threw away a lot of money for supposedly good players, but that doesn't mean that our direction has to change to 2013-2015 transfers on steroids. These are costing us much more nowadays. Ashley Young would have been our 4th highest earner in 2014-15

IMO reason why he's not clicking at RM is that he plays a poacher style where as his team mates and coach prefer the striker to drops back and be involved in the build up play.

Unfortunately this. It's as if Lukaku brings some kind of confidence to the whole squad. And it isn't surprising given our game is based on him.

I love how this crusade against Sanchez started after a game he started being 4 weeks out injured... He shouldn't have started, period. It has nothing to do with Lukaku, it has to do with the coach's bad decision in team selection.

As for a potential target, a great low key option would be none other than Krzysztof Piatek. He's not an integral part for Hertha as their coach prefers fast forwards rather than a box striker and even if they're not looking to offload him, they'd probably welcome the relief of his salary.

An in-form Piatek is probably the best striker in current Serie A. He'll get a confidence boost if he's coveted by a top team, so I say we should go for it. If anything, Hertha owes as some discount based on how much they robbed us with the Lazaro deal
