Conte is winning games, so it's all good when he is getting results. Young is a decent backup but very frustrating player. He should be like worst case option when everyone is injured.

Wtf why ashley young, i'd rather take naga back, seems like this is part of lukaku deal, you know obligation to take player they dont need/hard to offload to easy off their transfer spending.

Ashley Young for free is still better than Alonso for 35M or Emerson for 30M. We are saving money for Vidal transfer .

Got 1st option on Verona's young CB Kumbulla.

The problem is this deal could keep us from signing a quality left wingback next summer. Especially with the upcoming arrival of Darmian. Next summer we will have Asamoah, Young, Dalbert and Darmian under contract. Until you offload at least two of them, you simply can't sign a new player.

Not signing Ashley Young is better than signing Ashley Young for free :work:

oh man when will this lb/lwb curse will end...

what frustates me is because asamoah getting injured again & again..

he took temporary leave from national team on 2014 and since then ideally he only played 1 game each week..

but since we don't have luxury to rotate him in here, we keep pushing him to play, to make worst he returns to national team..

he should just retire from national team and play once a week max.

i know our midfield is thin, but at least it have some qualities..but our flank is the opposites and we keep stacking it with some other mediocre/declining qualities..Just splash the money on lwb/rwb and be done with it.

Don't have one.

Agree, just the money saving move, nothing more than that.... I really don't give a fuck about this move if it means we relocate our money towards someone like eriksen or vidal...

We have a chance of winning something this year with somewhat shitty wingbacks, however we ain't winning shit with borja, vecino, and gagliardini regularly playing in midfield.

No it won't. Conte knows that Young is 35 at that time and on his last year of contract, so maximum a backup. Dalbert will leave. Then Darmian will "replace" Dumbo role and Dumbo will "replace" Godin (who surely leaving). So far so good.

As much as I concern about Young's age I think 1/ his characteristics fit the WB role like gloves; 2/ he is free, so we could buy more quality (=more money) in midfield; 3/ 40m for Alonso or Emerson is horrible.

I don't mind if Young is coming on a 6 month loan, its a short term fix until Chelsea relent on Alonso or some other quality target becomes available in the summer. But lets not give Young a contract just yet, he has to prove that he can still play.

Also people comparing this to Godin or Smalling deals in the media, thats bullshit. There is a big difference between the useful age of a CB and that of a wingback. Wingbacks need to cover a lot of ground with speed.

I would accept somehow Young if he was a temporary solution til end of the season. But 18 months contract? For a player who'll turn 35 soon? I cannot accept it. In the end of the season we'll end up with 5 mediocre wingbacks - Young, Asamoah, Candreva, D'Amborioso and Lazaro. I rate Asamoah, Candreva and D'Ambrosio, but they are old and D'Ambrosio is just emergency option. And we have to find someone better to move our team to next level, but in case of Young arrival there's no any room for improvement...

Eh, I was expecting top players when I heard we are working on players from Premier League and we end up with Young. What a joke :(

Young still rated by Man utd fans that i know, they all said lukaku would smash it at inter too. i am happy enough with 18 month deal, 3 lwb means position is covered even with injuries or suspensions

Am I the only one liking this deal?

How can you go from Alonso and Mendy to fucking Young?!
Moving all rocks. Splashing 35-40m on wingbacks is a luxury, certainly not a priority for our club at this phase. First, let us address the midfield and sort out the forward department.

Strategy here might be:
1. Aim high, then deal with reality.
2. Rumours could trigger other clubs to accept our transfer terms - for players they want to get rid of, but with their DS playing games.
3. Washing hands in public - Beppe wanted the best for us, but has to operate under certain conditions and financial parameters.

Marotta smelled blood (coming from Woodward`s pussy) and is now tricking him into another deal in our favor :notbad:

Why are we targeting a 34 year old from Manchester United? Would he really be much of an improvement on Biraghi and Asamoah? Can't Di Marco play on the left?
1. Because it`s a market opportunity: his contract is expiring in 6 months and Man Utd has only extended his contract last year, with 1 more year. Player`s careers recently extended if they conduct a PRO athlete`s life outside the pitch. I would not worry about age, look at Kolarov bossing Serie A (I thought of him because of his expiring contract, but he has just signed an extension).
2. He might be more reliable defensively than Biraghi and Asamoah. Plus he always gives 100%, unlike these guys... Asamoah looks too soft sometimes, not aggressive/determined enough.
3. If we can`t trust Biraghi, why would we burn Di Marco like that? He needs to regularly play to develop, which is why he will be sent on LOAN for the rest of the season. Hellas Verona is being reported as a destination for him, for which we have secured 1st option on Kumbulla.

No experience in Serie A - true, but perhaps we take him for the Europa League? I mean the guy is currently the CAPTAIN at Man Utd and we finally have managers who put accent on player`s mental attributes. IMO this is key to success and we`ve been signing captains recently if you were paying attention. :datass: Having a team full of leaders gave you an extra edge in Hattrick as well :datass:

My only concern is the wage, but it seems that Suning can solve this with adding new revenues (while we can`t force transfer balance due to FFP). We save transfer money for others, so I prefer we get a proper midfielder than half-assed solution.

Manchester United's Ashley Young opens Inter Milan talks with future undecided

Manchester United captain Ashley Young has opened talks over a move to Inter Milan.

It is understood no decision has been made yet by United about whether Young will be allowed to leave Old Trafford this month.

The 34-year-old's future is expected to become clear in the next 24 hours.

As his contract expires at the end of the season, he is now free to talk to clubs outside of England.

Young was left out of the United squad for Tuesday's 3-1 Carabao Cup defeat by Manchester City.

United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said after the game that "it was not the right time" to discuss Young's future, adding: "We can't weaken ourselves, we need to strengthen ourselves, if any movement is going to happen."

Young joined United from Aston Villa in 2011 and was part of squads that won the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup.

Young is coming right at the door but no one bothers opening his thread.

Eriksen never shows any interest in us, but Real, and people opens his thread immaturely.

See? Jinx is real :D If you want anyone comes, don't open thread.

Young is a sensible option for Inter. He has an abundance of experience and versatility and provides a reliable option down both the right and left WB positions. He's not particularly effective going forward anymore but he's got really honed his defensive skills over the years and I think he's really strong in one on one situations.

He's still got reasonable athletic qualities too and his body hasn't quite broken down just yet. For 18 months, on a reasonable wage this represents very intelligent market moves.

I'd rather Ashley Young on a free for reasonable wages than to spend €30m+ on Emerson/Alonso.

Being linked to Eriksen and Vidal just to end up with Ashley Young is a bit of a letdown if I’m totally honest.

Young is 35 this year though. We buy Young we'll need another LWB in the summer anyway.
