Atletico Willing To Part Ways With Inter Target Sime Vrsaljko

Faced with an important offer, Atletico Madrid will be selling Sime Vrsaljko according to Madrid’s local sports newspaper, AS who reports that the Croatian fullback is keen on a return to Italy.

Inter, who see him as the ideal replacement to Joao Cancelo, will face competition from Napoli and Juventus as well as unnamed Premier League outfits. The former Sassuolo player recently renewed his contract with the Spanish side until the end of June 2022. In that contract there is a release fee clause of €100 million but unfortunately for Atletico, that clause will not be triggered and the expected amount for his sale will be around €35 million.

Sime Vrsaljko joined Atletico Madrid in 2016 from Sassuolo for a reported fee of €14 million. During this time, he has made 37 appearances and scored one goal as made four assists for the Spanish side. Inter have been interested in the Croatian fullback, who do not seem to be favored by the player.

Sime Vrsaljko has been named to the 23 man roster for the Croatian National team in this summers World Cup in Russia.

He never really expressed his desire to stay here like Rafi but if he accepts Rube then fuck him!
Spallo made him in to a competent defender with extra work load(the kid admited as much}
It would be stupid of him to change an environment where he is trusted fully now as a RB!
Maybe he wants to work with his Co national José I dunno...
He is the RB who created the most in serie A!
Let's give Valencia 40 mil on 1.7 and have one of the most talented RB's in this era!

Leverkusen recently got Weiser from Hertha so they're probably prepared to lose Henrichs this summer. Despite his poor season, i would take Henrichs if we can't sign Cancelo. He needs to improve his defence a lot but he's young, great in attack and he has a lot of room for improvement. The problem is he has a 35m release clause and i can't see Leverkusen selling him for much less. If we can afford spending 30m+ for a right back we could just sign Cancelo who is already a better player than Henrichs and has established himself at Inter.

Vrsaljko: ‘Staying with Atleti’

Rumoured Inter and Napoli target Sime Vrsaljko says he’ll be staying with Atletico Madrid as “they clearly showed they have faith in me”.

The former Sassuolo full-back was heavily linked with a return to Serie A in January, but the situation in Spain has changed and he won’t consider a transfer this summer.

“If you’d told me at the start of the season that in May I would be second in the league, with a Europe League medal, with no more injury problems and an extended contract, I would never have believed it,” Vrsaljko admitted, speaking to Sportske Novosti in his native Croatia.

“I hadn’t played much, I had injuries, and I seriously thought that could indicate I needed a change of scenery.

“Fortunately though everything changed in that respect, the club gave me a lot of confidence, refused important offers and never even considered talking about a transfer.

“They extended my contract and clearly showed they have faith in me, so I’m satisfied with every situation here at Atletico right now.”

Yes, we have been linked to Nico Elvedi of Borussia Monchegladbach and Benjamin Henrichsof Bayer Leverkusen. The first is more defensive, so much so that he can also play as a central defender, and in the national team (called up for World Cup) he is the backup to Lichsteiner.

Benjamin Henrichs, however, will not go to Russia despite winning the Confederations Cup with Germany a year ago. Henrichs had a difficult season too but his quality is not in discussion. The player can play in a more forward position. Both are at a very young age (Elvedi 22, Henrichs 21) and their value is also similar, around 12-15 million euros.

Spalletti sees Blind to be the kind of full-back who can push Asamoah and keep him on his toes. His ability to play in the midfield is an added bonus too.

The 28-year-old Blind's contract at United expires in the summer of 2019 and he is expected to leave this summer, after having fallen out of favor under Jose Mourinho.

Inter have already initiated contact with the player, seeking his willingness.

I would support the Blind signing. Can cover across the entire back-line, and play as a CDM should we be short in the midfield or want to shore up against teams like Napoli, Juve, Roma away. Plus it wouldn't be acceptable to continue with Santon as the first choice LB back-up.

Need to sign a starter for the RB spot first though. I've got a big man-crush on D'Ambro but he can't be starting in the Champions League.
