Not much IMO. Vlaar got all the plaudits and rightly so but Vrij was equally good. Vlaar cleared everything and Vrij anticipated and intercepted. Also Vrij was the main CB to carry the ball forward like Hummels does.

Also Vrij is just 22 and will cost less than Vlaar. Lzaio and Hamburg are linked with him and as usual ManUtd name is thrown around because of LVG. Hopefully we sign him as he looks like a proper player.

IMO De Vrij had better world cup, many disagree but I was more impressed with him than Vlaar.

Netherlands played defensive game so most of the time opposing team did come forward and for most part they looked comfortable.

Perhaps, but if we are looking for a partner for Vidic, then De Vrij makes more sense.

That said, the Dutch defenders looked good in their system which was quite a defensive set up with a lot of midfield cover. If you play them in a 4 man defense with a high line, they will look poor. The same is true for Rolando - he was good for us in a 5 man defense last season, but whenever I have seen him play in a 4 man defense, he hasn't looked very good. So a lot depends on what style/system we plan to play next season.

At Inter anything is possible, man. People still talk about Ranocchia (26) and Alvarez (26) as "great potential" for the future.
