2012 Olympics

Since we got a lot of England-based memebers here, I'd like to congratulate them on London chosen to host the event in 7 years time!

I think London was the perfect choice. However, all the candidates were the so-called big cities in the world, like NY, Paris, Madrid and Moscow.

I think what tipped the scale to London, was its reputation as a multi-cultural city. It didn't have the best infrastructure as Paris, and not the total multicultural package like NY, but it had enough of each.

Moscow was probably not stable enough, and Madrid can't be considered multicultural (Thank Atli and Real fans for their racists chants, I heared some of the judges were put-off by that.)

The reaction in Paris was funny, but I felt sorry for them. To see them lose to England while massed in a square is something!

I don't watch much summer Olympics, mostly because Canada sucks at summer sports.

Its true lol and I really don't watch the olympics cause i find it extremely boring except for a few events like the 100 m race. I still remember when Donovan Bailey broke the world record. Now the record gets broken like every week though lol.

This is great news, most people thought that France would get it. I will definitely go to an event and hopefully our athletes will do well!

Well, i guess this is the thread to mention that i saw Raul twice. Once when he was with the official delegation and the second time when i was going home from work and caught him walking back with his girlfriend or something. I could have just walked up to him and took a picture but i thought better of it. I mean, he's Real Madrid, so nah. I have my principles you know.

Anyway, congrats to London. We'll be seeing you in 7 years time.

Yeah i saw Raul for real. I walked past him. I was thinking that this guy looked real familar and i was like "holy crap that's Raul!" I wanted to take a picture with the guy, but i was initially too afraid to ask. And besides, no Inter fan would want to take a picture with a Real Madrid player.

I didn't notice his wife's height though. They were walking down the stairs whilst i was going up.

Actually twice! Once was a famous Saudi player who played in WC94, I saw him in a big city. He was a famous LB, he drove passed me, and almost splashed me with rain water :depress:

The second was with a famous Moroccan soccer player, he too played in WC94 as well, I saw him in Mecca.

But never saw a really famous World stage soccer player, always lived in little towns Have you seen some famous ones?
