with all respect for zanneti but the guy is not made to play in the midfield, he is an average mid at best. mourinho used him as a lb which suits him much more. motta sux he has no place in the first team, if we can sell him for a decent price we should do it. even cambiasso failed miserably this season. our midfield really needs overal renewal.

id say buy fernando and banega. they are practicly made to play in inter.

Hey assasin before posting as a quote try reading once more your own post and you will find that you say the same things as me but with more sugar in it + some other things that had nothing to do with my post.

Anyway as cafe said treble is history such as the barca game. But still i will make you a simple comparison between the 1st barca game and the copa game that we both played in counter attack and both won in order for you to notice the real decline of our midfield.
The only thing you have to compare is the number of saves that our defenders made in the palermo game in comparison with the barca one. I can assure you that tonight there were way more and this is not because palermo is tougher than barca but because our midfield not only doesn't create but can't even manage to keep up with the faster and younger opositions anymore making lucio and others resolve situations in a heroic way .

I didnt say the same thing as you, i did agree with Motta being a bum, but differed greatly in other opinions.
Zanetti as i said is a beast and was not invisible on the field.
Stanko got to win a trophy tonight as he is already been bench and will be bench as we are buying a few classy midfielders

As far as treble being history and all that well thats just bs.
We were plagued with injury this year, just because players made it back into the lineup doesnt mean they were 100%
We still clawed our way back to 2nd and nearly won had we had a more competant coach.

We won Champions league with a Defensive mentality of Old Exp players on Def and Mid.
Milan also did this in 07 in champions league when they fielded an Ancient Maldini
A very old Nesta,Zambrotta,oddo,Kaldaze,Jankulovski.
players like Gattuso, Ambrosini in mid who are old slow defensive not creative.
they had a worldclass playmaker in KAKA and an old Inzaghi as striker.

Dont you think many Milan fans were pissed they still had old players on the field before they won champions league.
Offense & Defense are two very different schools of thought. In Italy defense has always been valued above all.

With all the young offensive talents being produced many teams have become more offensive.
Everybody wants youth but Defensive skill has always been gained with Age & Exp.

We missed our starting CB Samuel all year and had massive injuries throughout including GK
We are an Italian club with an Italian mentality only we use Foreign players.

Pretty well summed up. Not one of those midfielders should be a starting players for a team hunting for CL victory. And no, do not take our treble into this discussion. That is past, that is history, it will never happen again like that for Inter, with that kind of team (unless Mourinho comes back some day which doesn't seem too likely).

I concur. Our central midfield is a bit of a disaster with all due respect to the likes of JZ, Cuchu, Deki, etc... It just got really old all of a sudden. And it was never a strength to begin with. Last year, it was amazing under Mou but that's what great managers can do. With Rafa and Leo, it just isn't there. All the more reason to inject some new blood into it. All too often, Sneijder, Eto'o and Pazzo are isolated because our CM's can't move the ball as they lack pace or aren't very good passers. I hope Branca remedies that this summer... at least somewhat.

"What we do need, perhaps, is to find some youngsters for the middle of the park so that players who have been immense over the last six years can have a bit of a break every now and then."
