Yes, and I'm talking about price-tag short-term and also long-term. I don't want Inter to get a new CB just because Samuel is injured for the rest of this season. He will be a good backup for us from next summer on again. If we get a new guy then, what are we gonna do with him? Then we would have shit loads of CBs and we would pay millions for most of them not playing (sitting on the bench/stands). From next summer on, we have most probably Lucio, Samuel, Chivu, Cordoba and Ranocchia as CBs (assumed Matrix retires). That's 5, perfectly okay number. Lucio, Chivu and Ranocchia are first choice starters, Samuel and Cordoba are backups (I assume Samuel won't be at his best after this injury anymore). Nothing can go wrong. There's no room for that additional CB we might buy this January. That's why we need to loan. Let Ranocchia mature and develop at Genoa, let him play a full season there as their undeniable 1st choice CB. Let him get that experience so that he's more matured and better cooked for his career at Inter.
