One player can't get you to CL. That's not Palacio's fault.

I was like you, disappointed when we got Palacio, but mainly because it felt like we were moving even further away from top signings and going back to the ridiculous logic of getting any Serie A player of the moment. But, I was wrong and if Eder proves to be as good as Palacio I think this would be a good deal. But it's a tall order. After Handa, Palacio was one of the few solid post-Treble signings.

Eder is bad because we need something else more, because it means giving up on players we already have on account of Macnini being clueless to get them to work together productively.

Yes definitely one player can't get you CL but surely to our management he seemed like the missing part of the puzzle the same way we are looking at Eder as the missing part if the puzzle to make CL, don't you agree? Don't you think we are trying to sign Eder and hope that we make CL?

We thought with Palacio we could make CL, but we didn't so we failed. But if we knew somehow that even with sigining Palacio we won't make CL, that makes his signing even worse! Why did we sign him then?! Why didn't we go with a youngster and tried to make a good team for next year?

I predict this signing is going to be pretty much like Palacio's. I was against signing Palacio and for the same reason I am against signing Eder too.

Palacio was a good player but not what we needed. Palacio seemed like a signing to try and make CL. Since we didn't make CL, I count Palacio's signing as a failure. What did we gain from signing him? making 8th place? If we had signed a promising youngster, we might've done the same but at least now after few years he would've had a resale value or he could've helped us now make CL and we didn't need to sign another Palacio-like.

These types of players are signed as part of a short term project and if your project fails, means your signing failed. Eder would only be a success if he manages to give us what we signed him for, CL.

I was torn between 5 and 6 but then decided not to be too harsh on the guy and give him a 6.

Correction! We are the club he deserves not the other way around. After so many years playing at shitty team, he finally deserves to retire in a nice place with good wages.

If you go back to my original post, I mentioned that Palacio didn't get us CL and has no resale value. Our best players right now have resale value.

There are some players like Palacio who were bought as a short term project. Those players were bought because we thought they could have immediate impact and can get us CL.

There are some other players who were signed as part of long term project, to build a team around them and to have resale value if money was needed. Players like Icardi, Kova, Brozovic, Murillo, etc were part of this long term project and were successful signings.

both very good players, liverpool dont play to bentekes strengths, hes not got worse

and bony does well for city, hes just 2nd fiddle to aguero, if he was their number 1 striker he would bad 20-30 a season

All good questions, but we do have the benefit of hindsight now, and imo it says that Palacio was solid for us. That's why I am not connecting him and Eder, because I don't think Palacio was a failure just because Inter management back then expected more of him.

Dont know why, but he looks polite and hungry for success, this is his last chance in a big club finaly. He keeps low profile, not dressing like a monkey, focused of the game..

I think he can be just what we need, a leader to CL.
