We are nowhere near FFP compliance as far as I know (as a baseline). We are once you get exceptional on there - for example in 21/22 we would have been about 72% but that was only because of 90mil plusvalenza, without the plusvalenza we would have been 104%.

I'll share a Google sheet when I get home which breaks it all down, but for 23/24 I am expecting us to still be quite non compliant with a lot more work to be done unless we have a deep run in the CL. I can imagine 22-23 being compliant on account of the CL run, I suspect we didn't make enough plusvalenza in 23-24 so far to offset what we need.

New FFP is squad cost/revenue <= 70% right?
If the numbers are to be believed, 187/303 = 61%, what am I missing here? Exceptional items are not counted as revenue, how are they accounted for in FFP?

IIRC it starts at like 90% and ladders down to 70% over time

That graphic above is from our official books for 21-22, wages are reported in an aggregate bucket. I believe for FFP exceptionals are factored as revenue (e.g. plusvalenza), so Chelsea/Inter/etc will need to get a serious amount of plusvalenza over the next few years to sustain

Our wages + amortisation for 21-22 is 342mil {218m wages, 125m amortisation}, not sure where the 187 number comes from. I cant comment on where Pier's numbers from come. Capology for 21-22 says wages of 156m gross, so 60m to cover Conte, directors, staff, youth, etc sounds probably about right. I dont know if FFP calculation is squad wages or total wages, though.

For 21-22, by my (Rough!) calculations we were amort+wages = 77% of revenue, but that's because of a huge plusvalenza. Without the plusvalenza we would have been 102%.

Thinking outloud, maybe that amortisation figure includes any buildings we own, training grounds, stuff like that? I'm not sure, just speculating as to why 342m vs 187m. I think 60m of the discrepency can be down to wages for directors, etc, so we're still 100m difference between what the books say vs what the spreadsheet says

Looking at the latest figure from pier for 23-24, though, to be honest, I kind of "cant believe" our amortisation cost is down to 50mil a year, which is the implication there. But I know he's done a good, and diligent, job with the numbers so I dunno why we have a discrepency.

In Pier's numbers, the annual amortisation cost is annual cost - wages gross, so 19/20 = 57mil, 20/21 = 81mil, 21/22 = 50mil, 22/23 = 58mil, 23/24 = 49mil.

In contrast, in our official books, 19-20 we have booked 96mil amortisation, 21-22 is 125mil amortisation.

I believe the numbers I use are in line with Swiss Ramble, e.g.

187m comes from Calcio e Finanza. And the squad cost for this season 23/24. They report that last season our squad cost was 214m. I assume it means gross salaries + amortizations of players.

yeah, i assume it would do. Either it means our total cost has dropped significantly since 21/22, or something doesnt really reconcile. Not sure which.

Salaries and wages in the annual report include directors, media etc. All staff. Only the costs of the players and Inzhagi matter for the squad cost ratio. As for amortization, it’s expected that the numbers should differ somewhat given that there are other intangibles than players.

Yeah, but we shouldnt be carrying like an extra +100m a year in other intangibles. That's the thing that I find crazy. I can accept it, but I struggle to believe it without a bit more of a detailed breakdown.

I had a quick look in the latest annual and this is what I could gather:

Salary players €152m
Salary coaches & technical staff €13m
Amortization players €101m
Agent fees €23m

So it’d add up to €289m for 21/22. €266m would be more comparable to pier’s numbers, but agent fees are also included in the squad cost, I believe.

Can you share a link to the report you're looking at? Because the one I looked at for 21-22, unless I only looked at the summary section and you're looking elsewhere in the report, didnt break it down for player vs non-player wage and amoritsation vs player only amortisation

I think it’s the same that you’ve shared before but yeah, you have to scroll around quite a bit to get all the details.

Ahh yes I see thanks. You're right, I never scroll that far, I always look at the summary positions.

Thanks bro!

When 22-23 release I'll do a more detailed analysis on the specifics rather than the top level this time :)

Colpani is going to be a 25+ mil player if he continues like this.

Also who are we going to sell to have space for Colpani - Hakan? I doubt it. Will he replace Asllani? He isn't really a player that wants to leave Inter, especially for a smaller club.

Or can he be Mkhi's replacement? But we are offering him a new contract.

We could get him as soon as possible (what we should've done with Ricci) and have him play a season or two on loan before integrating him fully.

Eh. I could be wrong but Colpani seems like a excellently mediocre player for a small side. Another Berardi essentially. Decent player no doubt but just haven't seen enough to be convinced he can take the significant step up. No position for him either. Seems he's being deployed as an AM/winger hybrid so not sure exactly where he's supposed to fit into a 352.

That's why I am confused if we are really interested. We have Hakan and Asllani already and he doesn't seem like somebody with world class potential. I'm pretty sure he will have a high fee if he continues like this, the only reason why maybe we would get him if we think we can get him for cheap and we flip him for money later.

I know Hakan isn’t Salah but he is Muslim. Maybe Qatar or Saudis will want him and give us huge money in the summer. The Saudi league offered 200m to have the best Muslim player maybe they can offer 1/2 that for one of the top 5

Next year It’s Barella or Hakan for the big $$$$$ transfer. We kind of have the Barella replacement already.

But unless we get a new owner, way better sponsorship deals or win every trophy this season then some player is Leaving.

We also need to replace positions since a lot of 1 year deals and some pretty old starters in Acerbi, Mhki and Sommer.

This is the way. Just need to avoid the dortmund strategy of acquiring mediocre, mid table players on high wages and we're set.
isn't Dortmund the best club over Inter to sign young talents, and potentially high resale value players?
