Its a good-ish mercato considering the limited funds and the many players needed. Marotta really had to jiggle funds around alot to make ends meet.

Great: Pavard.
good: Fratessi, Onana fee, Thuram (too high salary)
Okay: Sanchez, Augusto, Caudrado. Getting rid of some low value trash, pray that Marseille makes the CL.
Indifferent: Bisseck, Klaassens, Sommer.
Bad: Brozovic fee, should have gotten more players out (Sensi in particular)
Horrible: Arnautoshit

A 6.5 for me.

Not getting a proper striker is the biggest worry. The team is one serious Lautaro injury away for top 4 to get extremely difficult. The entire season basically rests on his shoulders.

4M salary vs 1.5 net. Plus Klaassen was signed to be a fringe player whereas Kamada would have been at least a rotational player. Pretty simple logic, really.

his marketability would have probably covered it. Will hate how Lazio will FK us no lube to get him now

The only disappointing move was undervalued selling of Brozo and kinda wasting too much time on Lukaku
Give it a year and return to this post if you feel the same.

Imagine being told during Conte’s first year that in 2023:

Martinez would score from a Cuadrado cross, Aurnatovic and Mkhitaryan would run in to celebrate; Brozovic would have been replaced by Hakan Calhanoglu; Sanchez would be signed, sold and resigned; Pavard would be sitting in our bench for 90 minutes; Lukaku would be playing for Roma and we would have narrowly missed out winning a CL final.

Goalkeepers: 6/10
This is where we could have done much better, especially after selling our top notch one for a huge amount. Even keeping Handa would had been a good option but may be he did not want to remain as a second keeper anymore or planning to retire as well.

Defenders & Wing backs: 8/10
We have strengthened this department with the signing of Pavard. I have always thought and hoped that De Vrij would get back to his form and if that happens, we need not to worry this season. Not a fan of Cuadrado in person but as a player, there is no doubt that he is really good. Augusto is another good signing.

Midfielders: 7/10
May be Lazar's signing would have given us few other options in the midfield but that is obviously in past now. We will miss a creative spark in the midfield, which has been the case since a long time but lets hope that they will do their best.

Forwards: 6.5/10
We could have done much better here, especially when we lack creativity in the midfield as well. That being said I hope Thuram keeps on surprising us and Martinez carries the team throughout the season.

I would give an overall rating of around 7 to our mercato, mainly due to the fact that we finally seem to have a very good bench. In almost all the positions, there are 2 good players. This could come in very handy when competing in multiple tournaments, injuries, avoiding fatigue, etc. With the finance we had and some transfer hiccups we had to face (Lukaku & Lazar), I do think that the management did quite a good job with the available options.

Hectic mercato with a lot of mood swings, but cannot complain with how it ended.

Failed to sell successfully, took much time to make transfers and missed out on almost all top targets (even Pavard was a backup eay down the line in case we failed to buy someone costly up front and I'm happt with the outcome as I was rooting for this)

To sum the mercato up: Mission failed successfully.

1st place..... 9 points and 8 goals scores, 0 against..... + did they say +34m in sales/transfers.... got rid of all the dead wood, infinitely better bench than last season

yea shit mercado because we didn't sign the Messi/Ronaldo Regen in Fifa and some of you believed the Mbappe rumor haha that was even crazier than when you would post Messi coming here from Barca.

You don't leave any room for disagreement with that one @pier

Just a note that you missed Azpilicueta (or I have) there.

Calcio e Finanza reported our total cost of the squad is 187m. Dunno how they've calculated that.

They have access to our books some way or another, so I'd consider their words.

Our revenue in 2021/2022 (if google is to be believed) was 303m. Assuming our revenue in 23/24 will be higher or at least not lower, our squad cost will take up roughly 60% of our revenue. We would be complied with FFP and be generally healthy financially if that's the case.

We are nowhere near FFP compliance as far as I know (as a baseline). We are once you get exceptional on there - for example in 21/22 we would have been about 72% but that was only because of 90mil plusvalenza, without the plusvalenza we would have been 104%.

I'll share a Google sheet when I get home which breaks it all down, but for 23/24 I am expecting us to still be quite non compliant with a lot more work to be done unless we have a deep run in the CL. I can imagine 22-23 being compliant on account of the CL run, I suspect we didn't make enough plusvalenza in 23-24 so far to offset what we need.

I only saw it after I uploaded the above; There appear to be only a few discrepancies, such as the inclusion of the head coach value, and the chart I displayed above is only for the first team. I'll update the post later.
