So Darmian, Skriniar, Acerbi in the derby
Well, there's your issue. We are unable to operate like a selling club because we are unable to identify/afford upcoming talent. Not a common opinion but... sell him. As Bastoni still has relatively low salary, we could still get a lot on transfer fee. Otherwise in his next contract he would want a raise e.g. 7m or 8m. The buyer would prefer to let his contract run out and get him free. A Skriniar-bis would still happen not now, but later.
We have to face the fact that Inter is not a powerhouse anymore as long as Suning is in charge. We dont even have zero budget, but worse, have to sell to survive every year. It's better to operate like a selling club properly instead of half-ass solution i.e. paying for players at a top-club scale but in the meantime has no fund left for transfers, free grandpas here and there to fill the gaps.
What's the point of keeping the current scouting team if we cannot identify talents?Well, there's your issue. We are unable to operate like a selling club because we are unable to identify/afford upcoming talent.
Also because if you sell Bastoni for 60m, you'll be allowed to reinvest 10m. Which will go straight on Acerbi's price tag and wages, and then Marotta will say "we've put together a Scudetto winning squad" while piling shit on Inzaghi/De Zerbi/Motta/Whatever moron will take the job.

Btw what you just said is the stonewall definition of a half ass solution. We (Marotta Ausilio and co.) should make it clear to Zhang, if you don't invest please be aware that the target should be proportional. Stop spamming title slogans, no ifs or buts, because asking for the best with no material is simply bullshit. Or they just quit.
Suning reminds me of my old Chinese boss... he asked me to work on metaverse with limited internet connection ffs no jokes here.
It's understandable tho. There is no money for Bastoni after extending De Vrij for 4m a season. No surprises here but OneFootball just reported that we are struggling to meet Bastoni's wage demands for a contract renewal:
Inter struggling for Alessandro Bastoni’s contract renewal

I thought the club is letting Skriniar walk so they can extend Bastoni. It's understandable tho. There is no money for Bastoni after extending De Vrij for 4m a season.
Bastoni currently earns €2.8m per season and has reportedly demanded through his agent Tullio Tinti to double his wages, reaching circa €5.5m per season. On the other hand, Inter are unwilling to offer more than €4m-a-year, so if Bastoni doesn’t sign a new contract within June, ‘nothing can be excluded’ in the summer, claims Gazzetta.
Beppe Marotta will meet the player’s representative again soon. A first meeting took place in December, but the two parties didn’t even talk about Bastoni’s potential new salary. Matteo Darmian, another client of Tinti, has recently extended his contract with Inter.
Chelsea are Manchester City are closely monitoring the situation. Pep Guardiola is said to be an admirer of Bastoni, while Chelsea emerged as an option for the 23-year-old last summer before Romelu Lukaku’s return to the Stadio Meazza.
"fans should not panic at all"
For me, we only have to look across the city. Thiaw, Kalulu, Vranckx, Ballo-Toure probably cost Milan about 5/6m combined, but I'm sure they'd be able to sell them on for 5m+ each. How did you come up with this conclusion?
Goes to both you and @YoramG
The issue isn't identifying talents. The Inter scouts identify the talent. They don't have the final say. They can recommended the player to ausilio but doesn't matter when either Zhang's no budget or beppe's no serie a experience will scupper any deal. What's the point of keeping the current scouting team if we cannot identify talents?

I don't see how that is on the scouting department. The buying decision is up to beppe not them. For me, we only have to look across the city. Thiaw, Kalulu, Vranckx, Ballo-Toure probably cost Milan about 5/6m combined, but I'm sure they'd be able to sell them on for 5m+ each.
We appear to be simply incapable of doing anything like that - finding somewhat decent, unknown players at low cost. Asllani was 14m (and doesn't play), Bellanova would cost 7m and he's terrible, Bastoni cost 30 odd million, Onana was known globally, Lautaro cost 20m, etc. etc.
We appear to wait for a player to be completely out of our price range or utterly overpriced before making a move. And even if we identify them, as apparently every damn player in the world was on Ausilio's list before going somewhere else, we don't get them!
Our squad is old, our owners are broke, and our management is either out of ideas or has objectively horrible ones. So selling Bastoni or not selling Bastoni seems to be a moot point, we're gonna be ass regardless until Suning leaves.
5.5 is reasonable IMO. But even having a so-so season, Bastoni is worth more than the 4m he’d be getting offered if the rumours are anything to go by. Frankly, I’d almost be insulted if I were him. He’s an Interista and he’ll stay for less but within reason. We shouldn't pay 6m net to him and we won't. And Bastoni and Tinti will accept less.
€4 million raising per year was ok till the idiots offered de vrij €4 million. No one I am accepting the same deal as de vrij if I am bastoni.5.5 is reasonable IMO.
