How on earth we are the only club that must firesale every year? AFAIK milan also are in financially horrendous yet they do not self amputate like we do.
Well Kessie left for free. That's even worstHow on earth we are the only club that must firesale every year? AFAIK milan also are in financially horrendous yet they do not self amputate like we do.
Because our owners are insisting on self financing bs. Gobbi and barca have more debt then us but can't stop buying. It's infuriating being stuck with suning. How on earth we are the only club that must firesale every year? AFAIK milan also are in financially horrendous yet they do not self amputate like we do.
So what's the plan for us to be financially viable? I don't see one.Yeah, a club that brings in 300-400mil a year in revenue is a 5 year old, right
This is a club that needs to, and should, stand on its own two feet. We've spent the last 25-30 years suckling on the teets of sugardaddies, if not longer. It's about time we actually become a viable business of our own accord.
Barca might (?) be ahead of us on the sporting basis, but they're really fucking their financials going forwards. It's probably one of the biggest gambles in sporting history, in my view more so than Leeds betting big on making the CL every season.
Reduce wages and amortisation, try to increase revenues (much harder because of COVID times, obviously, but things like CL knockouts make a big difference). So what's the plan for us to be financially viable? I don't see one.
Disagree. If child is unable to support himself yet you need to support. Agnelli's still pumping money into gobbi after 100 years. Our owners have pumped in hundreds of millions into this club - at some point its not unreasonable to expect the child to grow up, get off mummy's teets, and support itself.
And there's no chance this plan works. All the critical players in this squad were multimillion euro acquisitions. We've shown close to zero ability to scout and acquire quality, low-cost players. We don't develop good youth players. Unless the plan becomes signing only Bosman players on elevated wages this won't work, and we just let one of the best Bosman players of our generation sign with Roma on very affordable wages.Reduce wages and amortisation, try to increase revenues (much harder because of COVID times, obviously, but things like CL knockouts make a big difference).
Our squad annual cost in 2020 was 266million, this year we're at 167 million. That's a huge trim already, and tbh, I think this is a better squad.
We need investment to improve, but our amortisation went from 273m per year in 2019 to 91m this year, and our wages went from 162 in 2020 peak to 124 now.
As I've said for a few seasons, with signing longer term players like Barella, Skriniar, Bastoni, etc, who are long-term parts of the squad, then as we renew them and extend contracts, our costs decrease rapidly and give us more room for investment.
I dont know how we'll raise the money to pay Oaktree/buy a new stadium, to be honest, but Suning have taken massive steps towards getting us to be more financially healthy. There's more to do - Lazaro, Dalbert, Sensir, Salcedo, Dzeko, stand out as examples where we could shave another 28mil in annual costs without any real impact.
Add in Correa and you'd get that to almost a quarter of our annual cost.
Well said, but one cannot trim the squad endlessly, because it will finish bad.. I think, we are near the minimum now. If we need to sell a top player next year, the money shall be reinvested in the team. Something what Napoli do. They are not against selling some of their star players, but more or less they are trying to keep the squad competitive. We'll lose some shitters next season as well, but I don't want the story of Ranocchia 's replacement to repeat. If Dzeko leaves - find a reliable back up forward. If Gagliardini goes away - bring Agoume or spend on someone perspective.Reduce wages and amortisation, try to increase revenues (much harder because of COVID times, obviously, but things like CL knockouts make a big difference).

Gosens still cost over 30M. It's not like he was some shrewd market opportunity.re Dybala, time will tell, but I would say its a very inter signing to make - 28 year old with a bad history of injuries, on high wages, on a 4 year contract, and then we end up having to terminate him because he doesnt play enough.
We've just brought in Asllani who I'm personally hopeful for, we're making some clever signings like Dumfries, hopefully Gosens...
It's a challenging situation, but there are plenty of good signs imho.
Our revenues are challenging right now, but thats not surprising against a backdrop of a global recession, mass lay-offs, increasing inflation, etc. It is, ultimately, fixable though. The key stroke is to get to a reduced cost basis (as we are doing), which gives us the freedom to actually breath a bit.
We don't only need investments to improve. We need investments even to simply replace those with expiring contracts and maintain current level of the team. Dzeko, Skriniar, De Vrij, D'Ambrosio, Darmian, Handanovic, Gagliardini, probably Acerbi. Even if we assume Skriniar will extend, Gagliardini will be offered a new contract because he's cheap and we are already set in GK with Onana we still need to replace the rest. How are we going to do it if there's no money to spend?Reduce wages and amortisation, try to increase revenues (much harder because of COVID times, obviously, but things like CL knockouts make a big difference).
