Well put. I feel the same way about Lautaro now. A good player, and that's it. There's no 'special' factor about him that makes him indispensable. You see, with Lautaro, I always have a feeling that he would botch it whenever a chance is presented to him. It's strange considering that he has actually scored a decent enough number of goals in the past 2 seasons. But somehow, I still have that feeling. Yup, he has scored some nice goals for sure, but those goals, for some reason, look like instinctive, or rather 'just blast this, give it a go and see if it goes in' kind of goals if you know what I mean.
Players like Thierry Henry, Eto'o, or heck, even Icardi, when they are presented with a goal scoring opportunity, you would always have thay 'that's it, he's going to score for sure' kind of feeling. Players like Ibrahimovic and Adriano, when they scored a spectacular goal, or Robben whenever he scored his spectacular trademark signature cut inside and curl it to the top corner goals, you would go 'fuck yes, I knew he would pull that off'. But with Lautaro, you don't feel that.
I have said many times that I like Lautaro and appreciate his workrate. But he's supposedly a star forward of Inter. At Inter, it is mandatory to have a top forward. It is our tradition. Clueless pressing and work rate alone would never suffice to make you a top forward. Lautaro needs to improve on his techniques and footballing IQ, massively.
