Di Marzio reports our 3 targets would be Zapata, Dzeko and Dumfries.

My guess is Dzeko would be option only if we get him for free from Roma. I'd go for Aguero instead. Younger :)D) and better.

Don't have one.
Well on paper, dzeko and zapata could cover lukakus goal tally, so in that sense it's kinda safe option coz I don't think there is possibility they both flop, you could realistically expect goals from those two. But it's such a lazy and uninspiring option... not to mention their age...

Honestly i don't know which is worse. The fact we still want Dzeko at the age of 35 or that his alternative is fucking Scamacca. :palm:

I don't get why we aren't going for Jovic on loan.

According to Pedulla, the mercato strategy is:

  • Zapata
  • A second low cost forward
  • Dumfries
  • Nandez
If we offload Pinamonti, then we will also go for a third forward.

We need to close Lukaku sage, one way or another, asap. These are many moves and there isn't much time left.

We go with 5 forwards? I doubt that, maybe a translation error?

Why are we obsessed with Zapata? His goal tally only became decent at Atalanta under Gasp and surrounded by the likes of Ilicic, Papu and Gosens. He’s getting older and his goal tally is unsurprisingly getting worse. And they want for €40m for him? Fuck that. Marotta should get sacked immediately if he uses that kind of money on Duvan Zapata.

For me it's really strange we're going for Zapata. Marotta had always been against spending high transfer fees for 30+ players. And now he's gonna spend 40m on 30-year old Zapata? It makes no sense.

He has destroyed any goodwill he earned with this summer. Or is on the cusp of doing so, anyway.

I'm not saying his position is easy, but I'm not too far off on agreeing. With little of the window left, Zapata reeks of the 'easy', uninspiring and ultimately expensive choice - same stature, same strengths, just worse in every department.

Re: Marotta, he also hasn't managed to offload one single player for a transfer fee. When we've gotten rid of players, we pay for it (Joao Mario, soon to be Nainggolan and Vidal), or loan them out, paying some of their salary (Pinamonti, shortly) even though we have a bloated squad with players we don't need. Why isn't Vecino or Gagliardini on their way out? What is Lazaro still doing here? What's the deal with Perisic? He was giving a (admittedly, cowardly and disgusting) order to gain 80 million, and did so by selling the best wing-back in the world, and now soon one of the best strikers in the game (although not his choice). Maybe we could at least try to offload players that have no use to us? Even Milan are getting 12 million for Jens Petter fucking Hauge, but it seems we don't even try.
If Lukaku is sold, his statements of no more stars being sold were outright lies - allthough, again, not due to him, but still.... bad, bad optics.

We also have some urgent contract situations that need attention, namely Barella, Skriniar and most importantly Brozovic. And yet, no news.

One of his hands are tied behind his back, but still I'd expect more from supposedly one of the best sporting directors in the game. This is turning out to be a wretched transfer-window pretty much no matter how you look at it, and no matter how much you want to blame Suning.

That's inevitable when you sell your starting striker and limit 30% for the replacement. I don't like Zapata at all; but honestly, who is better than him and costs less? Scamacca, Belotti, Dzeko? Gimme a break.

Eventually, Eder was right. Zhang family are liars. At first, they said we need 70m profit to excuse for Hakimi sale -> any surplus from Lukaku should be used on the market. But no, suddenly 80m more disappears and Marotta has to pick from the leftover trash.

Falcao is free :)…. Much better than Zapata.

in a slower league that won’t hack at his knees think he still a solid option as a back up.

haha Vidal, Sanchez, Falcao :) haha that was part of my dream team back in 2014

Mourinho will save us from Dzeko, believe me.

I can't blame the directors for the failure to offload our bench players. It was already difficult in pre-covid era, let alone in this era where almost all clubs have no money. For sure, the offers available only loan+option (or free transfers). Heck, we even tried to get starting players from other clubs by loan+option.

But I must admit, that hauge transfer for 12 mio is really surprising. I don't know how the hell Milan can pull that deal.
