I doubt it will be postponed for less than 6-7 cases. Besides, i dont even want it to get postponed. Sass is good team, but even with them, we should be able to beat Sass.

our players shouldnt be allowed to travel for international games - the bubble has definitely been penetrated so there's too much risk in letting them spread it further. They need to go all into immediate 14 day isolation tbh.


edit: It's confirmed, our players cannot be called up for international matches and the game is officially postponed.

Inter: De Vrij and Vecino have COVID
By Football Italia staff

Inter players are banned from travelling for international duty as the club announced Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino also tested positive for COVID-19.

After the news of Danilo D’Ambrosio and Samir Handanovic have contracted the virus, the Nerazzurri released another statement this morning to announce more cases of COVID-19.

The local health authority of Milan have decided Inter will not be able to train for four days and the players from the Nerazzurri squad will not be able to travel for the international break.

“FC Internazional Milano announce that Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino tested positive for COVID-19 following the tests carried out yesterday,” the club wrote.

“The two Nerazzurri players are already in home quarantine.

“The local health authority of Milan, informed of the new positivity, decided as follows: Immediate suspension of any type of team activity for four days, including Sunday, March 21.

“Inter-Sassuolo; ban for the match scheduled for Saturday, March 20, 2021.

“Prohibition of replying to the summons for all players called up by their respective national teams.

“On Monday, March 22, before the eventual resumption of activities, the molecular swabs will be repeated for the whole team.”

one thing to stress - because there's a health authority lockdonw, the juve-napoli precedent means that whateer figc laws are in place are irrelevant, we wont be forfeiting this match or anything lik that.

Indeed. In the event of this COVID outbreak, this is the best possible outcome - game postponed, international break, and players forbidden from traveling anyway.

That said, irrespective of our "good luck" things could still get much worse depending how many more players, if any, test positive, and how long they'll take to recover.

team's form was quite low in the recent matches, started after milan and genoa 3-0 wins. OK, we won, but gameplay was shit.

I don't think it would even matter, given what happened with Juve-Napoli. We even have a stronger case as ATS Milano have explicitly forbidden the game to be played.

Almost all players become negative after approx. 2 weeks. We've seen cases where it takes less time as well as cases where it takes more time.

If this was going to happen we're fortunate that it's happening now. However, that doesn't reduce the risk this poses. This could seriously derail our season if a few players struggle to recover. Here's hoping everything goes smoothly.

Also, I'm basically certain that Sassuolo will try and force a forfeit (unsuccessfully).

theres no point, tbh. It'd be literally wasted money on legal fees. This has been tried and tested in court and the ruling is quite clear. If they want to waste £50, 100k on lawyer fees they're free to obviously, but its prima facie frivilous.
