Conte’s picks are good for starting a retirement home not a serie a title contender team. But he clearly lost his mind.

Let's not overreact until we actually sign ALL of these old, desolate players.....and Conte then finds something else to complain about

Inter is hostage of the 10 million per year contract they gave to Conte.

I don't condone violence in any shape or form.....but, it would be kinda funny if someone sent him another bullet. Just for the laughs.

Edit: why can't I have white text color?

I don't know what to think. If Conte was told you have 200 million to spend, pick a defender, midfielder and forward...obviously these choices are nuts. But if he was told you have 20 m to spend pick 3 players, it wouldn't be surprising to see these names.

In my dream world we are pinching pennies so that we can sign Messi haha

The thing is, it shouldn't be that the management gives him a euro sum and he gets to pick players. Fuck that shit. SPECIALLY in this case where it's very doubtful if the coach will be here for more than one season.

I'm fucking positive if Suning signs Messi, Conte finds something to complain.

I’m starting to think Zhang won the meeting andConte just ate shit. We’re clearly broke there is no way Conte has a ton of money to spend and this is what he’s come up with. This penny pinching feels like Thohir is in charge again.

If Conte demanded no pressure to win the Scudetto, it was management that initially wanted to go cheap. People accept all that is said about Conte (besides what himself said publicly), but disregard what media says about management - "they have no money", "first sell then buy," "Covid-19 made it all very difficult", etc. You cannot have the one without the other. So let's not pretend that Conte is solely to blame for these early low cost signings no one really is happy about. It's not that management completely decided to grant every Conte's wish, and they came out completely defeated.

Conte didn't put Messi's shadow on Duomo. He didn't talk shit publicly about his Messi dreams. Management made us believe in crap stories that clearly weren't in their plan to begin with.

And btw yes, we really need to offload many players first. We didn't extend Borja's contract - a good start. If we may send Vecino, Candreva, (and hopefully Gaglia) away, it will create space for others to come. It's not about buying players only, we need to get rid of players that cost us trophies and money, and would cost us in future. Let's see how it all plays out - I am personally pessimistic so far about our mercato, but let's give Inter the benefit of a doubt.

So management has money but they won't spend them because of Conte, and all this "sell first and buy later" is bullshit?

Oh yeah, Kolarov's 2 million signing totally disrupts management from bringing Messi, Tonali, Kumbulla, Partey. If not for Kolarov, we'd have them all here already. :yao:

People actually think Conte is this much influential.

Honestly I can’t believe what I’m reading from some of you guys. Do you remember what Conte said when they asked him about Messi? He said if only you guys knew what I had to go through to get Lukaku ( who btw was being signed as an Icardi replacement). Hakimi, Barella and Eriksen were splendid signings I’ll give you that but let’s tone down the notion that Conte got given some crazy budget. As for what’s happening right now, do you think if Conte got given a choice between say Kolarov and Marcos Alonso he’d have chosen Kolarov still? No chance , but we have no fucking money to spend it if we do we might have to make some sacrifices in certain positions to say maybe get Kante.

But if you want to blame someone blame Suning Cos my god these guys could sure talk the talk but the reason our squad heading into the next season looks the most promising it has for a while is purely on Marotta who has been excellent with some of these purchases. They talked about getting Messi....spare me the bs

what coach would not want Kolarov to solve the left back issues? Conte is spoiled.

Let’s also pretend like we didn’t get rid of 3 of the most important players from the season before

Are you insinuating we've never replaced "important" players before? We've never replaced multiple "important" players before in the same season?

I'm still waiting to name when last (and how many times) we spent more money in 12 months. Adjust for inflation too....

I'll add...when has our squad value been higher and how many times?

I'll save you. We've invested a lot and continue too. Comparatively speaking, we've spent the most in almost our entire history. But we also need to compare relative to our competition.

The only team with rivaling budget spent is Juventus. No point mentioning any other Serie A club.

What makes it more laughable is...how many players did Sarri get that he wanted? I'll wait.....

Almost every single club has spent more in the past few years than they have spent in their entire history , wtf are you on about? My point is everyone ripping on Conte for buying Kolarov and Vidal? Like wtf do you want him to do? We have no left money to spend and if we do we haven’t got much so we have to balance it therefore purchases like Vidal and Kolarov are needed right now

Fallacy. So we spent 30M on Eriksen and 40M on Hakimi. Confirmed Sensi and ready to spend 35M on Tonali. Agreed massive salary for Alexis. All in the last 9 months. Yet somehow we "have no money"?

Anybody ripping Conte has nothing to do specifically with cost of Kolarov and Vidal. It has to do with *perceived* change in team building strategy, *perceived* succumbing to extortion by Conte, and complete lies from sir Conte about his rants having "nothing to do with transfers"

And just to be clear; I am not ripping on those transfers per se. My stance is that it's Marotta's job to balance how many of these oldies are in our team, how big their salary is, and how long their contracts will be. We've done it every year for the past 3 years and I expect it to continue; we mix bigger investments in younger or ready talents while taking opportunties on experienced players with minimal investment. For me, that is a sound strategy.

The argument for quality older players will always make sense. The challenge is, and we have experience with this, is that all of a sudden, they become unreliable and can't hack it against the youngsters, and you get left holding the bag for big salary for 1-2 years. Having that scenario on 1-2 players is somewhat manageable. Having that with 4-5 players is not.

Ok then ask your boy Steven Zhang to buy Marcos Alonso and Kolarov would not be needed

:palm:

(1) Marcos Alonso and Kolarov are not interchangeable. At all.

(2) So in your mind, we must get 10000% of whoever Conte wants, no matter the price? No matter the judgement of the ACTUAL directors of sport, who's job is to find players that fit the project? Got it
