I don’t even think al Shabab is that rich to give him a big salary the likes of a Chinese club for instance.

Who knows, maybe he's just packed it in mentally. Banega was always a bit of a headcase. He was a little bit like Cassano in that regard: a tremendously talented player with some mentality issues who needed the lower pressure environment of a Sevilla/Sampdoria to settle himself. That said, he was great while he was here. It's sad that his promising Inter career had to be sacrificed due to FFP/settlement agreement.

We got rid of Zaniolo and Banega so that Spalletti could have Vecino, Valero and Radja. Gawd what a loser.

You know perfectly well that we had €45m in capital gains to make in order to meet the terms of our settlement agreement. As much as I vastly preferred Banega to Valero (and still do), it was preferable to sacrifice Banega to raise that money instead of Perisic or Icardi.

From what I saw of him against Manchester, he has gotten extremely slow. In defense he's good, but takes risks (Gagsy/Barella pressure should be very on point against him). Offensively, I thought he still had good passes but he really is useless once he's on the other team's half.

Apart from that Atalanta match, he will also be remembered by that screamer against Lazio

That’s disappointing. He only just turned 32 and he’s still a class player who could be a useful squad midfielder for a big side. I’d gladly take him over Valero, Gagliardini or Vecino. Or yet, he could be a really key player for a club of similar stature to Sevilla (EL regular, top 6, Roma, Milan etc)

Thats true. Other than Saudi League being a crap league, Al-Shabab isnt even top 3. I have no idea how much they offered him, I dont even follow the league.

He was a bit inconsistent to be honest when he was here, he was rotated with Joao Mario, who to be honest was performing well, before turning into the total fraud he is now.

i was really disappointed to see Banega sold after just one year at Inter. One of the few great players in Inter in those years...

I had been one of his few advocates here. He really disappointed me with his joke on Conte's hair implying if it was a wig or real hair. There's only one step from loving to hating...

Dude sent in some pin perfect crosses literally every time from set pieces. Probably man of the match for me, shame it didn't work out for him here.

I said before the game we should keep this guy quiet and someone, I don't remember who, said: Banega is shit, he's done, and blablablabla. This fucker won the game for Sevilla tonight.
Moral of the story, never underestimate your opposition.

Was fantastic today. Really impressed.

His set pieces were excellent, I didn't notice him at all throughout the rest of the game.
