18 managers will fail. 1 will win the league and Wenger will be 4th.

What you said would have been true if the league is full of English managers. In the league we have jose, pep, klopp, poch, koeman who are all tactically very good.

I'm not particularly keen on Pep or Klopp, but I want to spare myself from becoming Fapp 2.0 and debating this :D

I don't like to make predictions before transfer markets closed, but here I go. I can't wait because this season will be insane.

Winner: I have a feeling Pep will do really well. He has arguably the best squad and has already spent 100 mil in bringing in his type of players and making the team fresh. So he is my predicted winner. I think Gabriel Jesus will dissapoint and Sane will impress.

2. Klopp IMO is the sleeper most people seem to be over looking. I think Liverpool will finish in top 4 this year. He has the advantage of having already seen his team last year in competitive games and being able to access their weaknesses. Now he's had a window to bring in his type of players, and unlike Pep he actually has a better grasp on who will work in the EPL and who won't due to his experience.

3. I think Mourinho will also finish top 4. He hasn't spent as much as I thought he might but of course that can change in an instant if Pogba deal happens. Either way I think he knows the league well and has the respect of the team. He will be in CL spots but not win IMO.

4/5. Arsenal & Spurs IMO will be fighting for the 4th spot. Tottenham will fail to build on their momentum from last year and probably finish just outside the CL spots. I just don't think they done enough in the transfer window (thus far). Arsenal will be Arsenal and someone manage to squeak into the CL spots despite some embarrassing loses and a round of 16 CL exit.

6. Chelsea will miss the top 4 I think. Unless they make some moves in the transfer market to give some life back to a team that seems dead mentally. Conte will do a lot, but I don't think the 4-4-2 is the right system for them and I don't think they have the personnel for a back 3. Right now they are kind of inbetween the 2 systems he wants to play and lack a bit of identity IMO. However the market is still open. Signing of Batshauyi will be a waste me thinks.

Leicester will make top 8 and that should be considered a win for them despite being defending champs.

I wonder what the deal with Mou and Ibra is. Didn't Mou say that Ibra was too selfish, and that without him Inter would win everything? Maybe he wants to rebuild and give confidence to the squad first, and then buy another top CF that's less individualistic for CL. Essentially pull an Inter 08-10 with Man U.

Hmm. I think Pep might have to get back used to putting more equal focus on the league and Europe, unlike in Germany. Plus given that both of his major signings are coming from outside of England, it will take time to adjust.

Similarly, I'm a bit pessimistic on Klopp's chances. I think he underperformed last season – even accounting for him being appointed only in October, Liverpool were still fairly inconsistent.

I think Spurs will do better than you think. The only thing they really lacked season was cover in some positions, and now they have it. Every starter on their team was playing very well, no need to replace them, just get some rotational options to give them rest and some competition. They've done that.

I wonder whether this new era of PL will allow managers more leniency. People recognize that the PL is loaded with super-star teams and managers. In previous years, failing to make CL would have been a sackable offense for the top teams. But will club boards and owners realize that at least two very good teams will miss out on CL every season?

Reaching 2 cup finals isn't too shabby though. I am with you however on the inconsistency part, one match they destroy City only to lose against Norwich the following week. And personally I think he'll do wonders next season, even though I'm slightly bemused on how their transfer market have gone so far.

But will club boards and owners realize that at least two very good teams will miss out on CL every season?

This is honestly difficult to answer. On the one hand, you have the earnings clubs can make solely by finishing wherever they do in the league, finishing top 8 will be huge financially (then again just staying in the league will be profitable). On the other hand, the prestige of the CL is still massively valued especially for owners such as Roman or the Sheik, and the fans will be expecting it too. But as you say with how competitive the league (don't agree with the super-star bit though) is some big clubs will miss out inevitably. Moreover, with how much money clubs are spending expectations are surely going to rise.

I'd say it would suck to manage in that league.

Agree, although I will take it one step further and say Klopp is in prime position to do a Dortmund and win the whole thing without super stars but great football. I think he has the depth in his squad now to play his aggressive ball constantly.

But definitely see City & Liverpool as top 2, ManU & Tottenham as the teams for 3/4. I do think this is the year Arsenal don't come in top 4. Chelsea/Arsenal for 5th/6th.

Either way, super exciting times for EPL. Sucks for Serie A, but EPL will be HUGE this year.

Liverpool is getting fucked, bro. I do not see them in top4 even with Klopp.

We'll see. I hope they do great.

EPL this season
1. MU. Mou will do a Mou. He looks motivated to win. MU was his dream and chance to reverse his below-par season. With good defence, Creativity in Miki, and absolutely Zlatan, I think this season is theirs.

2. Liverpool. Kloop already in his second season in EPL. Without Europe he can focus all his resources in EPL. A Good motivator with a good transfer this summer. He can replicate his BVB in EPL.

3. Man.City. Many pundits set Pep as favorite to win EPL. But I think Mou and Kloop have advantage over Pep. Maybe City will have problem with consistency.

4. Tottenham. Pocch has longest time with his team compare with the other fav. There are much potential in his young squad. We already have an experienced with his Tote.

5. Chelsea. Conte is a very good tactician. But he needs experience to challenge for the top. I hope i'm wrong and Chelsea go to CL.

6. Everton Koeman

7. Leicester Ranieri.

Sorry for my bad grammar. Greetings from Minahasa, Indonesia.

West Ham have sold 50k season tickets? That along with the huge EPL TV deal mean's they'll probably be a force in a year or two

Maybe finally this is the time when Wenger without his Throne. Whatever, what's important for me is for Inter to win again. :datass:

I think

1) Man City - Technical players will go fine with Guardiola's playing style
2) MU - Mou is Mou
3) Chelsea - I'll give Cunte the benefit of the doubt, but I wouldn't be surprised if they bomb
4) Arsenal - No comment

Feel bad leaving Spurs and Liverpool out, but they could just as easily be top 4 as Chelsea and Arsenal. As for Leicester, it was fun while it lasted, but it's impossible for them to be at the top again, especially with CL fatigue.

1) Man City - best squad in the EPL, and it's not close imo.
2) Arsenal - this will probably be incorrect when half their team is injured by November, but I really think they will challenge for a title this year.
3) Leicester City - really not sure why people are writing them off. They've improved their squad depth and only really lost Konte. I think they'll likely get knocked out of the UCL early and not have to worry about competing in two competitions as much as people think.
4) Man U - Squad still doesn't impress me. Defense is a disgrace, midfield is exceptionally average (though curious to see how Pogba changes that). Zlatan hasn't faced real domestic competition in 4 years, so he might struggle to play well over the course of a long season.
5) Chelsea - Conte gets the most out of a rather average squad
6) West Ham - Like people have mentioned, they are going to be dangerous
7) Spurs - Expecting them to regress monumentally following last year's collapse, and rather lack of anything exciting this transfer window
8) Liverpool - Once again, just don't see enough quality in their squad. Particularly the defense.

This is going to be a fantastic year. Looking forward to watching it.

Its impossible to predict, this one. My best guess:

1-2: Title Race: Its between Man Utd and City. I think that is where the title race will be decided.

3-5: CL Race: I think this is largely between Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool.

6-8: Leicester, Chelsea and West ham. I think Chelsea are going to struggle unless they buy a couple of quality players.

I may revise this after the transfer window has closed. The real picture will emerge by then. For example, if Arsenal do not but a quality CB, I may downgrade them a bit.

You will be surprised very much by our defense Strange how underrated our defense is when we had the best defensive record last season and before that we had 2nd or 3rd best.

First time we did something nice.

Btw, now I can enjoy Pogba as he isn't Zebra cunt anymore.

I think Van Gaal's tactics had more to do with your defensive record than you actual defensive talent. You also finished worst among the top eight clubs in goals scored. I think Van Gaal sacrificed offense for defense, similar to what Mancini did during the first four months of our season last year.

My top 5 prediction

1) Arsenal - #WengerIn
2) Man City - I don't it's gonna be as comfy as people think with Pep.
3) Man United - They start the process of morphing into Mou's image.
4) Tottenham - I think they are well coached and would pick them for the tittle if they weren't spuds.
5) Liverpool - I really like Kloop and think he gets the best out of the squad losing out on CL in the 90th minute of the last match day.

Under Van Gaal we didn't play defensive football. We played highline and possession all the time but the passing was always sideways to retain possession.

Smalling had a great season, Shaw is back, Bailly is looking like a very good young player and looks like we are seeing Valencia back to his old self but as a RB. Even if we ignore Valencia, that's 4 out of 5 who are very good (including De Gea).

Like I said, many will be surprised this season. Van Gaal's tactic means CB had to track striker even if striker dropped to midfield which means leaving the gap in defense. Jose addressed this straight away already.
