We don't have any money we're looking for short term 6 month solutions to at least give the manager what he wants at the end of the season. Vidic was not a bad signing if given the chance to play I'm sure he'll do well as he wasn't that bad when he played to begin with our problems aren't individual defenders but lack of balance in the side which can't be attributed to single defenders it's stupid to look at it that way. Also I can't see why Podolski is an awful signing on a 6 month loan who else is there in the January window with no money to sign anyone? Just calling a transfer stupid without giving an explanation is um... stupid. Podolski is a wide forward fits the identikit the manager wants. Ausilio is bascially doing a decent job with a limited budget, in the summer he signed the players Mazzarri wanted the only thing lack was an extra forward but due to finances we couldn't get that done. But other than that the Osvaldo signing for a loan with 7 million transfer fee was good, Medel is an important part of the side, M'Vila has had injury problems, I think Vidic needs time but he'll do well, D'Ambrosio was an excellent signing and our best full back and Vidic we haven't seen much of since Mancini took over so let's hope he gets an opportunity to show his worth. So yeah, we can bash, bash and bash but Ausilio with a limited budget has been doing what he can and I'm sure with the right manager (Mancini has a knack for getting the right players he built the base of our Treble winning side) things will get better.
Make no mistake, Podolski is only coming here for a short term loan because that was the only deal that Arsenal would agree to. Initially, we sought him with our trademark, get now, pay later. Vidic was a horrible signing. That's why he no longer plays, because when he did, he was a walking disaster. He doesn't need more time he needs to gtfo or retire. We took a hasbeen and made him one of our top earners for show and it backfired greatly, yet said FU to Porto for Rolando our best defender. There's a reason why clubs who could actually afford him didn't get him, and they're not regretting it. It was not hard to see the downsides of signing an aging player and how the upsides to doing so were minimal. Yet the worse part is, Vidic wasn't an anomaly, he is simply a continuation of the trend.
If you were to add up these stupid and unnecessary deals we keep making and all of a sudden you'll see that we're not a club of savers or bargainers, we're a spend thrift club, that spends excessively in the bargain bin and clearance section, and what's worse, we pay for all those defective items with a credit card. What's even what's worse is that, when we finally do find a gem in the bargain bin, ala Rolando or Poli, we suddenly become penny pinchers, and decide that he's not worth it.
If you want to praise Ausilio for the absolutely dreadful job he's done, go right ahead.. But here are the facts, nearly half way into the season, we sit 11th, behind teams that have significantly less resources than us, and not to mention we will be obligated/have to pay well over 40 million euros in the immediate future just to simply stay at the level we are.. How is that even remotely a good strategy, limited budget or not? And what's worse, we're doing this for players that offer zero and even a negative return on investment, look at how long we've been trying to sell Alvarez, Guarin, Silvestre, Perreria, Schelotto.. That's 50 million euros worth of players that have no future at this club, and we will be lucky to even get 20 million for.. And in a couple years, how much do you see us getting for Medel, M'Villa, Osvaldo, or Dodo?
There is literally no winning in us making this Podolski deal, he plays like shit, we suffer. He plays well and suddenly Arsenal will ask us to pay a high fee for a 30 year old player, which will do because Ausilio, and then the player declines and we're stuck with another aging player with high wages, that we can't get rid of. And then of course, we'll be once again in the market looking for another player in the clearance section, and people like you will once again be justifying it because we're "broke"..
