Zlatan on Lebron James: “What he does is phenomenal, but I don’t like it when people with a certain ‘status’ talk about politics. Do what you are good at. I play football because I am the best at it. If I was a politician, I’d have gone into politics”

Former NBA player Baron Davis stepped in for Lebron in a tweet:
Zlatan stay yo ass out of LA. Galaxy suck anyway. And you dumb as hell. Take that stolen Zoohan look and give it back to Sandler.

Zlatan is one of those guys who think they sound funny and smart, but actually he's just cringe and out of touch.

If anything, it’s his who should mind him own business and focus on football, where he is doing extraordinarily well for his age. But now he is just ruining it for trying to be a comedian with his outdated jokes.

He’s a bit of a weird guy. Crazy talented and successful domestically but the way he speaks you’d think he’s one of the greatest players to have played the game. Talent wise and longevity he definitely is up there, but teams he’s played on have always lacked something fun the biggest of matches as seen in performances for CL knockouts throughout the years.

I feel he has more do a cult following these days. A decade ago a lot of people thought he was somewhat of a “big game choker”. But with the whole Chuck Norris jokes and referring to himself in the 3rd person I think he got himself a new fan base.

The whole Zlatan-Chuck Norris/Russia parody jokes is what's gotten him so popular for sure. You can also tell it's gone to his head a bit

CL choker is not the same as big game choker

that he was a big game choker has been disproven so many times I'm tired talking about it

this makes him same level as Aguero, but not Messi and CR

You also have to remember for which clubs Messi and Cristiano played in the Champions League. Not saying that it takes away from them, but if you add that consistency to other top players of the times, they'd also be on the spotlight a lot more often.

With Cristiano for example, he was scoring at regular levels until 2011 for someone playing for CL contenders for 5 seasons. Then football became this shit that we have today and all top teams got boosts while everything else pretty much died. Everyone had inflated stats and stars from Real Madrid and Barcelona in particular had hyperinflated stats, which is a testament of their superior quality. But it's like 'icing on the cake' difference rather than actual difference making most of the times.

If you compare both Messi and Cristiano scoring in knockout stage from their start until 2011 and from 2011 until today, you'll notice the difference. Okay, for Messi that's reduced as his club for the past 4-5 seasons has been underwhelming when compared to the earlier part of the decade.

Zlatan played for great teams but when this thing happened he was stuck at PSG with a squad that wasn't that great altogether, something like a Moratti fantasy with very good attacking players but a team that lacked balance or identty and tried to relied on individuals too much.
And Zlatan had 6 goals in the advanced stages of CL during this time, missing several vital games as well which cost PSG the qualification to the next stage. It's not like Zlatan magically improved his CL knockout game stats (he was unlucky actually, especially playing for us), it's more that the level had changed and he enjoyed luxuries that were not there before.

There was one moment that forever fortified Zlatan as a big game choker in my mind.
That was in a game against juve, in which Zlatan had been harmless up to that moment despite being hyped up before the match.
A high ball was played into the box and was cleared by juve's defenders. The loose ball then fell to Zlatan, he was in shooting distance.
So Zlatan ran up to the ball and threw his body and swinged his foot with all the power he had at the ball, it could have been a great chance.

But instead of the net, Zlatan somehow fired the ball accross the goal and nicely to Muntari's feet for a tap in
Zlatan got the assist but you can't possibly convince me that he intended to pass, nobody passes with that posture, nobody passes with that kind of power. How the f someone with so much skills could mishit the ball that much?

He later occassionally scored in big matches but the decision had been made, he's a big game choker as much as Lukaku is.

On a side note, Mutari's finish is probably the worst of all time in the derby.

I still remember watching the game and being afraid he would miss it.

Yea. Retard Manninger too busy pointing at Muntari thinking he was offside instead of simply picking up the ball, slowly rolling by, within arms reach.

He's still the best player I have watched play for us in the last 15 years.......but the same way people say Lukaku is a flat track bully then the same would have to be said for Ibra. I'll never forget those United games, as good as they were we really could have gone through. Ibra simply didn't turn up, same could be said for the Liverpool games as well

For someone who "didn't turn up" he sure looked like our best player by far in a game where everyone was below par. Almost had 2 goals actually and only Adriano had another chance, which also hit the bar.

Vieira was trash on the other hand and cost us the early goal and the team wasn't there mentally in the second half.

Ref being a complete asshole didn't help either.

In the first leg we barely made any attacks anyway, just one chance from a corner that wasn't tapped in by Cambiasso or Deki iirc.

I’m confused what you’re trying to prove with that vid....he missed a chance a player of his quality in a game like that simply cannot miss. His build up play was always exceptional but at the time I considered him to be the best striker in the world if not the best player in the world and I was expecting way more from him

Come on haha, different positions I know but you cannot tell me Sneijder was better than Ibra

Sneijder was best in the world 2010, tell me when Ibra has been best in the world. I don't even think this should be a topic that is discuss worthy. It should be obvious

Agreed. He was something else. I was always bragging to my friends etc about how good he was then we'd play in Europe against Liverpool and united and he was awful. He was supposed to lead our attack but it felt like he always disappeared in those big games.
