Great game from the Japanese fullback.
I simply love him at our LB. Down to earth, runs hard, do his job.
He is definitely starter for me and he has every bit of chance to become a extremely good wingback in Serie A.

If we are playing wingbacks instead of fullbacks I think he is definitely worth starting matches. Don't understand some of the harsh criticism he gets at times, no, he's not the best LB on the planet but he's up there in the Top 15 or 20. Considering his low wage and humility while being a squad player, I see no reason to get rid of him. Only reason to bench him permanently is if we purchased a truly world class LB, of which there are very very few.

Technically, he's shit and nearly screwed up our third goal.

But in general, he makes up for his lack of technique skills with his stamina and tenacity. Quite simply, he fights for every ball, and is able to win 50-50 or even 40-60 duels. That was the case in the last goal, he pretty much lost it there, but fought back and came up with an assist for Palacio in the end.

That's good enough IMO.

i think saying he almost screwed up the last goal is harsh. he'd been running the entire game and working hard and the defender was in front of him. it's not as if he had a clear cut shooting opportunity that he messed up, he would have had to cut in past the defender and then shoot. instead he went left, had a shot blocked by a defender, then managed to battle away from chiellini (i think) then put it a great ball to palacio. i think he did great considering he'd just run most of the length of the pitch on the counter

I meant offensively, he added almsot nothing to the attack. I know that he's supposed to defende, but he was still fine going forward last games not a single time I think vs juve, but we need the likes of guarin and naga aswell in order to create more chances.
