Yeah that lineup actually not unrealistic except for one player. Swap Erikson with SMS and that’s basically the realistic dream lineup there.

Erikson is unrealistic, but SMS is? I don't think they will cost much different, so both are pretty unrealistic. We are expected to break our all time transfer fee record with Barella, and then break it again with Lukaku. Its unlikely we will break it 3 times in one summer with Eriksen/SMS.

Realistic looks more like:

Lukaku (Dzeko) - Martinez (Politano)
Perisic (Asamoah) - Nainggolan (Agoume) - Brozovic (Sensi) - Barella (Vecino) - Lazaro (Candreva)
Skriniar (Bastoni) - Godin (Ranocchia) - De Vrij (D'Ambrosio)
Handanovic (Padelli/Brazao)

I say SMS is more realistic because he would actually want to join us, Eriksen imo would not. Doubt he even wants to come to Serie A honestly.

SMS is expensive and probably a bit of a stretch but I wouldn’t be surprised if we tried to make a move for him later in the window if we get the other deals done and we’re able to move a few players.

All in all, any of these line ups is already giving me anxiety. I can see us still crossing like mad every game.

icardi and any other player that gets a hissy fit when things don't go his way and he is off form and fans start to boo him and he does not like it and has a comments like I cant play to my ability if fans boo me and don't show me unconditional love. so players that need to be bought are the ones with c.ronaldo type of mind set me against the world and no fragile minds when things don't go their way they crumble under pressure. who needs lukaku or anybody else when people are not perfect and we all know he will and other will have off form periods in season and how will they react when interisti boo him will it be like balo and icardi by throwing inter shirt on the ground or icardi wining how he needs unconditional love or will the give 110% in other aspects in the game until they overcome the slump. so bale would be good real fans were on him for 2 seasons now and he still gave his best was quiet and was giving effort and I don't know any other player we are linked with that had ups and downs in his seasons maybe dzeko

It looks exactly as I had said months ago. Its the cost of changing coach to one with a very different style of play. We will end up spending over 200m without really improving the quality of the squad by much. Most of the money spent will be to make the squad more suitable to the new coach's tactics, rather than improving the quality of the starting XI by building upon Spalletti's work.

The only big positive is that Conte has a winning mentality and hopefully he will improve the psychological aspect of our squad. Which means we will play more efficiently and perhaps get more points than before. However I don't see this squad challenging Juve, which is a big missed opportunity considering we are spending over 200m on coach and players and that Juve are in a state of rebuild.

What on earth are you talking about? You sound like we're replacing the few decent players we have with players of lower quality due to their different characteristics that suit Conte's tactics. We are not doing that.

You also talk like 200M before outgoing transfers is a massive amount of transfer money in today's maket. It isn't. Two or three young and promising / established great players can easily cost our WHOLE transfer budget and then some. The problem is we have lots of holes to fill in the squad - at least two midfielders, someone on the right flank and an additional attacker. We are addressing all of those. That's four players, for which we can spend up to 50M each on average if we even have 200M to begin with. It's not fucking rocket science - we do what we can but that has nothing to do with Conte. If we didn't fire Spalletti he would be after the exact same players more or less, at least zonally.

Yeah, we might use Perisic not as a left winger but as a left wingback. True. Wasn't he doing exactly that under Spalletti also, shouldering most of the defensive work on his flank each game anyway? We might also use DDA as a RCB, a bit different than a RB but still pretty fucking close to what his job description requires, even more suited for his characteristics as he sucks ass going forward, etc.

There hasn't been any massive investment. We signed a midfielder (a position we desperately needed depth in) to replace Joao Mario, and a RWB for Conte. Godin was coming regardless of if Conte came.

Selling Icardi and replacing him with Lukaku is not a tactical adjustment to appease Conte, nor does it really change anything from a squad composition standpoint.

If Conte want to try to emulate his 343 at Chelse. Skriniar may positioned like Azpilicueta where he is shifting forward when on possession, he might already comfortable with that defensive midfield duty
anyway. De Vrij on position he used to on Lazio (although Lazio defensive stat is awful back then).

Still doesn't look like huge upgrade thought.

What is the story with Perisic? Is he really happy to play LWB for a season? He sure as shit isn't performing like a proper winger for the past 8 months.

We would in theory be turning him into a rotational player (splitting time with Asamoah). I always have thought part of the reason why Perisic) and our squad in general) is so inconsistent is because we don't properly rotate players. Maybe this would help?

Time has passed for clubs including ours to show the books ending in the green for season. Wouldn’t be surprised if we are linked to heavy names milinkovic savic is a guy to keep an eye on

Vasquez won't come and also wouldn't play on the left.

I don't believe Conte has the balls to play that.

Never mind having the balls, a midfield 2 of Brozovic-Nainggolan doesn't work because Radja doesn't have the legs for it anymore. I think everything we're seeing points to a 3-5-2/4-2-3-1.

If I'm being a tad conservative, and we sell Icardi, I imagine we'll end up looking something like this:

Lukaku-Lautaro
Asamoah-Barella-Brozovic-SMS-Lazaro
Godin-De Vrij-Skriniar
Handanovic

Looks good enough for second place at least, depending on how Lukaku clicks.
