I think Smackdown still can and will improve, but it's certainly the show I look forward to watching. It seems they're a bit more lenient on the scripting of promos on Smackdown. Either that, or the writers are writing better material for each character. You also get less of a feeling that things are done just to fill time, as they do on Raw.
Raw also has a few struggles they have to put up with Smackdown don't:
Raw
- Still trying to get Roman over, all while he is holding their midcard title doing nothing with it, challenging for the world title
- Struggling to fill 3 hours
- Confusing as hell tag division, although Cesaro and Sheamus have been fun to watch
- Just weird cruiserweight division stuff going on...
- Trying to get a relatively new main eventer over as a world champion (although this is one of the few things that have been working greatly)
- Due to lack of diverse talent to bounce between midcard and main event scenes we have seen the same matches consistently the past few months, all involving Roman, Seth, Y2J, and Owens. I expect Braun to be the 5th top guy by the end of the month.
Smackdown on the other hand:
- Established world known wrestler as the world champion feuding with John Cena, a dream match for over a decade now
- 2 hours, straight to the point
- Small-but big enough women and tag divisions
- Perfect mix between established wrestlers like Dolph and Orton with new guys like Corbin and AA
- Midcard title picture has been great so far with Miz, Dolph, and now Ambrose joining in...Raw has just been horrible here
- Smaller roster meaning more interactions between all the wrestlers, different matches, and just general different things happening every week except during that awful Ambrose-Styles-Ellsworth feud
I mean yeah a lot of this stuff can be blamed on sub-par writing but I do think Raw has gotten the short end of the stick on a few things, but they brought this all on themselves to begin with.
