We should devote a thread to the rising stars appearing in the upcoming World Cup.

Other than the obvious Lionel Messi, Kaka, Cristiano Ronaldo, Xavi etc of course, this thread should be for the relatively unknown stars.

From Uruguay there's Luis Suarez playing at Ajax who might have a good run in this tournament playing up front with Diego Forlan

For Greece two young players are probably going to be the upcoming stars. Sotiris Ninis of Panathinaikos and Sokratis Papastathopoulos of Genoa, both have many European teams' eyes on them, and this tournament might be their chance for a big transfer.

Alexis Sanchez of Chile and Udinese is an amazing player and this tournament might lure him away from Friuli if he stands up to his potential.

I think there's Maxi Lopez who plays with Catania.
He's a good striker in my opinion.

Samir Nasri, who plays with Arsenal as well.

Balotelli too!!! =P

I doubt Maxi Lopez will be called up, and even if he does, I doubt he will play with Aguero, Messi, Higuain, Tevez and maybe our own Milito as forwards for Argentina!

I'd say there's a 0% chance Mardona will call him up...If Lilo doesn't get called up, no way Lopez does.

Samir Nasri, who plays with Arsenal as well.

I like Nasri a lot but it's well known that Domenech is an idiot and he is likely to screw any potential chance France has in the WC, IMHO.

Agree on Suarez for Uruguay, who are one of my darkhorse sides for South Africa...But overall that Uruguay side has a lot of players who can have a big tournament.

I like players like Özil & Marin to really show their quality for the Germans.

Bentdner is a budding star, IMHO, and could be a breakout player for the Danes.

Still like the Dutch to be big factors although there aren't really any breakout players that are not already well known.

Zokora & Eboue could make a difference for Côte d'Ivoire, who are the strongest African side in it, for me

Also from Germany: Sami Khedira. A modern CDM. Though it seems Ballack and Schweinsteiger will play together.

Mata & Cazorla will barely get a sniff out there in South Africa, IMHO

Hernandez could be a key player for El Tri, true...Really, though, it's a damn shame that Nery Castillo dropped off the face of the earth...That kid was going to be something special, IMHO...A real game changer...Not sure where the disconnect occurred but he's adrift now...Wow, him, Guardado et al were really forming a fearsome trident for Mexico...I really loved watching him play, I saw great things for him...But, alas, this story has been told before about 'potential'

Either issue failed or you see most of them as unknown stars then you ain't an Interista. :p

Castillo is lost somewhere in Ukraine. He should make a move to a Mexican club so that he can get some playing time.

Yuto,Don Andres
Alex Song: CDM/CD. Arsenal/Cameroun.
Nani: RF. Man U & Portugal (why i have him is coz lots of poeple think he is an underperformer)
Gio dos Santos: RF/CF: Tottenham/Mexico: versatile & ever present will to win (I usually compare him to Eto'o)
Bojan: Barca/Spain. BOLD PREDICTION: Will replace El Nino in a game that was going all wrong for la Rojas and turn it around.
Nasri: CM/CF/RM: Arsenal/France (Domenech will misuse him as a CDM & ruin it all for France :rollani:

Then ofcourse the obvious Ronaldo (who will choke as he usually does on big stages); Messi, Milito & Tevez(who will be choked by Argentina); Kaka who will prove Madrid wrong); Robben & Sneidher (who will each prove Madrid wrong & respectively Bayern & Inter right) Fabiano, Rooney (who will be choked by an over hyped 3 Lions side); Drogba (who & his over rated CIV team will get humiliated); Julio Cesar (who will ride Brazil to the finals); Eto'o (ANOTHER BOLD PREDICTION: who will take a clueless Cameroon team to new prestigious heights); and the list goes on & on

Anyone know if Castillo is actually going to play for El Tri?...Just was reading a writeup at SI.com for Mexico and there was a mention of him but I don't recall him playing at all in recent matches

He is supposed to transfer to either Galatasaray or Olympiakos at the end of the season, but I don't think he will play in the World Cup
