Where did you learn English?

Considering this is an English-speaking forum and many if not most of you have your locations set to countries where English is not the native language, I was just curious as to where some of you learned the English language.

I for example don't come from an English-speaking background, but was born and raised in an English-speaking country by migrant parents.

I've learned on a course, in one of the best schools for languages in macedonia...

I have attended PET, FCE and CAE cources, and have FCE certificate. I didn't attednd to CAE exam since it was 200 euros and i was affraid that i would fail it lol...

Plus, 6 years in primary school, 4 years in high school and 2 years in UNI i was studying english, but most of my knowledge was from my 8 years in that language school...

I got first taste in School, learned some basics. Afterwards I've became fond of the language, as it is the best language to "cheat-chat" for me, having all funny phrases. Also cursing is almost like a pro in this language. For example you can't "curse" and have it look funny in Polish, but you can easily to the same in english.

After school, I just watched a lot of TV without any subtitles, listen to the music, write/read on the web. That kinda keeps my understanding of the language at some level.

Hey Luka you are from Poland right?So isnt half of your bad words and curses in russian language?Sorry if I said something wrong but I am your neighbour (Lithuania) and practically nobody curses in Lithuanian here...Only in russian

I'm really impressed by the standard of English here (NOT being condescending) but as Luka said, to maintain it yourself and expand your learning is a difficult thing to do.

Like I said, I was born and raised in an English-speaking country to migrant parents and when I was younger, I could barely speak the language of my mother and father. As I've grown up, I've had cousins move here and made more friends of the same nationality so I've developed in that language but the story has always been the same, close to fluent in speaking, (apparently I have a slight accent), slow reader, TERRIBLE writer.

I don't think so , but then again, I don't know any word in russian so I might be wrong.

Primary and secondary school,TV,movies,internet and of course FORZA INTER FORUMS (i have to learn a lot more) .BTW I want to learn Polish, i don't understand much but it sounds like melody Mis Uszatek was my favorite cartoon when i was kid and Dekalog is my favorite movie

I love the theme song in Mis Uszatek.I know to play it on guitar and sing it. Thanks for the video....I don't know why but i am in love with this language and Krzysztof Kieślowski is my all time favorite director.
