Being the stupid cunt I am, I've bought both FIFA and PES every year :palm:

Gotta say, I'm finally pleased with PES this year(As a note, I do like FIFA 15 too). Their motto is, "We rule the pitch" or something to that effect, and it's true!

Presentation wise, FIFA shits all over PES but, on the pitch where it matters, PES is the real winner for me.

If you can get passed the lack of licences for names, kits etc.. then it's ace.
Scoring that hard fought 1-0 feels so much more organic and pleasing than FIFA's scripted (bullshit) gameplay.

What about the passing? in PES demo they pass to empty spots rather than their team mates? or can I adjust the AI for support or what??

fairz nuffz. Ironic you mention scripting in FIFA, because I remember people complaining about scripting in the old PES (2002-2008) games. I don't know if that still exists (or exactly what it even was) but glad to hear you rate PES2015 higher.

I know like I'm going to sound like a spazbot but hear me out. I hated the way the footballs 'felt' in recent iterations of both FIFA and PES. In FIFA, the football felt like you were kicking a ball of scrunched up paper around. But when you hit the ball hard or long, the physics made the ball act like a balloon. I played FIFA12 a tiny bit and it seemed a bit better from the FIFA07 era but there was still a slightly 'balloonish' feel to kicking the ball.

PES on the other hand has also improved a little bit from the 2008 era, but it still feels (a little bit) like your'e kicking a water-logged ball around. To me, the football alternated between always feeling slow and sluggish like a medicine ball and feeling like a rubber gym dodgeball.

Morale of the story: has either game achieved a realistic 'feel' of the football?

They've both improved a lot, especially FIFA. I think PES is a bit better at it though.

FIFA this year has turned out shit, the worst for me in ages.. purely on the fact that its too scripted and that 1 shot out of 25 in the box will go in.. On past FIFA's I could score easy 3+ per game but now I struggle to score 1 vs the cpu, the keeper just gets everything, or the CB will make a flying interception to block the shot. Every single game. It's easier with teams like Barca, but tough as shit in career mode

I dont get why teams lost their kits. Colombia had their WC kits in 14 and in this one they deleted it. Why?!!!!

Any way people who live in the US see the Black Friday gaming deals?!!!!

I really should start waiting for Fifa. It's always 35 bucks on Black Friday

They didn't license it for FIFA 15 specifically. Italy has been on and off again through titles.

its like the team is already in there and they had the license at the WC just stop being so cheap and give us legit uniforms. Its the shit that pisses me off about PES. Can you download teams in FIFA 15 like in FIFA 14?

You can always go to the EDIT and paint your kits the way you like.

You can get a ps4, fifa 15 and a nexus phone for the price of an iPhone 6.

So yeah I think the choice should be obvious if you're not a big fan of iPhone's

Study Finds Gamers Are Better Learners

"Video games damage the brain,” “video games can alter children’s brains,” “video games boost brain power.” These are all headlines that have popped up over the years, and they’re helping paint a thoroughly confusing picture about how gaming might be affecting the brain.

While it’s clear that there are some conflicting studies, research into this area is still very much in its infancy. But one thing that seems to be consistently demonstrated is that video gaming can enhance certain skills, such as multi-tasking, perception, attention, task-switching and decision making.

So what is it about this common hobby that bestows gamers with such a broad range of benefits? This is precisely what researchers from Princeton University and the University of Rochester were eager to find out, and they think they’ve finally found the answer. Playing fast-paced action games can improve task performance because it enhances your learning capabilities.

According to lead researcher Daphne Bavelier, this is because playing such games helps our brains become more efficient at building models, or “templates,” of the world, which enables us to better predict what will happen next. “The better the template, the better the performance,” she explains in a news-release. “And now we know playing action video games actually fosters better templates.”

For the study, which has been published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers compared the abilities of action video gamers and non-gamers on a pattern discrimination task. This visual test, which involves identifying the orientation of fuzzy shapes on a screen, is tough at first, but becomes easier with practice. As predicted, the action gamers had the upper hand and outperformed the others. Further investigation revealed that this was because action video gamers used better templates than non-gamers.

To take this further, they enrolled a group of volunteers with little video game experience, and trained them to play video games. Half of the participants were asked to play 50 hours of fast-paced strategy games, such as Call of Duty 2, whereas the other half were asked to play mellow strategy games, such as The Sims. They tested the participants on the same visual task both before and after the training, and found that those who played action games became significantly better than those who spent their 50 hours playing happy virtual families.

Next, they compared the abilities of action gamers and non-gamers on a perceptual learning task. To their surprise, there wasn’t much between the groups at the outset. However, the gamers became much better at the task than the non-gamers over time, developing better templates for the task much faster than the others. According to Bavelier, this demonstrates an “accelerated learning curve.” Furthermore, when the groups were re-tested every few months for the next year, the action gamers still did better than the non-gamers, suggesting their better template building abilities were retained.

While this study may seem neat, psychologist and video games expert Walter Boot points out to Popular Mechanics that a recent study tested similar hypotheses, but drew the opposite conclusion. This could be due to different experimental designs, but Boot thinks it could be because the participants in Bavelier’s investigation likely worked out how they were expected to perform, which could have impacted the outcome. This doesn't mean that either study is wrong, but highlights how difficult it can be to research this area.

Neither, bioware makes bioware games. Dragon age origins was good depending on if you played baldurs gate or not (if u didnt, maybe ull like it more), the second one was meeeh

Its realtime combat mixed with strategic pauses, but the story is much better than skyrim

Anyone played AC: Unity? I haven't but I hear it's really buggy. Fucking Ubisoft, they used to be my favorite now they're going to shit, trying to hurry up their dev teams and don't do enough Q&A.

I heard a lot of good stuff about it, but also that the devs pushed the hardware a little to hard and it seems there are technical issues on the xbox and ps4 right now.
