That has to be gut wrenching, They still have a tiny chance at the league though one would expect Porto to beat Paços de Ferreira.

John "Mr. Final" Terry :palm:

Why? How many big clubs failed to win this trophy? I'm happy for him because he was hated from the fans from his very first match.

has anyone noticed how some managers are better suited for cups i.e. benitez, pellegrini, heynckes and others are suited more for leagues i.e. Mancini, Fergie, Cunte, etc..

not always mutually exclusive, but still an interesting thought.

Benfica is too wasteful. It will bite them in the ass.

good job pajo. I think in knockout competitions clinical finishing is the #1 quality of a team. In domestic leagues, you miss once, you make up for it another game. In knockout rounds, you must be clinical.

I dont want to start browha-ing with these posts but this was nice

-"Chelsea are the first team in history to hold both the EL and CL trophies at the same time. Historic."

Historic my ass. That would be like "Juventus are the first team in history to win Serie A and Serie B in back-to-back years. Historic."

Most say Benfica was the better side. They always play attractive football, but Chelsea was more clinical in the end and that's what matters.

Whoever scorers the most goals is all that matters.

To be totally honest the days before the match I was going to watch the match as a neutral, It´s hard not to want Benfica to lose since they were always critical when Porto reached all this finals on the last years and they were rooting against us but I was doing it anyway.

But when the media nonsense started that feeling changed. When Porto, Sporting and Braga played on the finals they were given 1/3 of the attencion. Even when the final of the Europa League was between Porto-Braga and they already knew that the Europe league would be ours (Portugal)!
To hear the Benfica anthem in the beggining on the news during lunch time (the one with most views) in the public channel (!) was just too much, I and a lot of other teams supporters were saying the sane during the afternoon at work, it was disrespectful, by then my mind changed so I was rooting for Chelsea.

Today I feel kind of bad since all the press are really depressed, same for my benfica friends and co-workers but that´s really common for Benfica, they celebrate first and then things like this happen.

Benfica was the better side, by far, but like many other times in football if the better team doesn´t score they almost always concede a goal. That happened to benfica twice both on Torres and on the last minute goal, almost like in the Porto match. I can´t imagine how it must hurt to lose twice on such an important week, both in extra-time!

They can still be champions and win the cup though and even if they don´t they still made a fantastic season. Obviously if they end up not winning nothing, or even if they win the cup, it will seem bad season but it wasn´t.

Good, it will definitely be incentive for teams to win this, and thats what i always suggested for this competition.
