Bid for a night in Ronaldinho's bed

ZURICH, May 16 (Reuters) - Do you fancy spending a night in the same hotel room that Ronaldinho, star of Brazil's World Cup squad, has just slept in?

If so, make your bid in an eBay online auction launched by a luxury hotel in central Switzerland where the Brazilian team will set up training camp next Monday before the World Cup in neighbouring Germany.

"We just hit on the idea by chatting among ourselves in the hotel management," assistant manager Philipp Musshafen at the Park Hotel Weggis said on Tuesday.

The highest bid so far for Ronaldinho's double room is 502 Swiss francs ($415) -- with much lower bids of 51 francs apiece being made for the rooms of fellow players Ronaldo, Kaka, Adriano and Roberto Carlos.

The auction (www.ebay.ch) runs until May 29.

Winners will spend the night of June 3 at the hotel, just hours after the Brazilians move out at the end of a two-week stay. They will also be given signed Brazilian football shirts. Normal rates for the five rooms on offer range from 480 to 780 Swiss francs each.

If it includes Ronaldinho's wife/girlfriend then maybe I could consider about bidding.

Drunk students awakes in treetop
7:37 AM May 17

A British student who climbed up a tree as a drunken prank and then fell asleep, woke up the next morning wrapped around a branch and used his mobile phone to call for help.
The inebriated individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, scrambled 30.4 metres up the giant pine tree on the campus of the Gloucestershire College of Arts and Technology in leafy Cheltenham, western England.
Eight firefighters were called out at 5:45am local time to rescue the young man, who was shoeless and wearing only jeans and a t-shirt.

They took 90 minutes to get him back to Earth using an elaborate system of ropes and pulleys.
Station officer Nigel Lambrick, of Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "He had had a skinful and in his inebriated state he climbed 100 feet up a pine tree, without his shoes on. He then fell asleep.
"I'm not quite sure how he managed it but he woke up wrapped around a branch. I think he had quite a shock.
"He was lucky he had his mobile phone or he could've been up there for some time."
The student, said to be red-faced when he eventually reached terra firma, was treated for cuts and scratches but was otherwise uninjured.
Mr Lambrick added: "Alcohol and climbing trees don't really mix. In all seriousness, he could've killed himself if he had fallen and two firefighters also had to climb up to him and put their lives at risk."

Footy strip saves boy's life

May 14 2006

By The Sunday Sun

A youngster has spoken for the first time about how his Arsenal shirt saved his life when he was impaled on a metal spike.

The spike pierced 10-year-old John Hough's chest, just missing his heart and lungs, but did not penetrate the plum-coloured shirt.

Doctors said the shirt stopped the spike going deeper and damaging vital organs.

John was yesterday recovering at home in Thorney Close, Sunderland.

He said: "It shows I was right to support Arsenal. If I was wearing a normal T-shirt, I probably would be dead.
