He will flee if big salary opportunity comes, especially from top tier clubs. Can't blame the guy. He's serving us very well. Would be a great loss.

Raiola gets much dirt for squeezing big fees, but truth is he always listens to his clients and not the other way around. He's not going to tell anyone that he should leave his current team, but he's not going to be the team's ally obviously, he's going for every penny he can.

He can tell De Vrij that he can find a 7-10m offer from teams like Liverpool, Man Utd or Barcelona but if De Vrij wants to stay at Inter with slightly less, then it's going to be done and Raiola will happily oblige to his player's demands. He's greedy, but not unreasonable.

Given our current pay structure, De Vrij deserves at least 6.5m from us. We probably will only offer up to 5.5m.

Very well said. Raiola gets too much shit in the football world, in the forums and so on. He's a tough guy but always defends his clients' best interests. Agents like Mendes etc. are the real cancer in football with their rackets.

Inter Set To Extend Contract Of Dutch Defender Stefan de Vrij

Stefan de Vrij will soon sign a contract extension with Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of La Repubblica.

The Dutch national team defender has been Inter’s star defender this term and one of the best in all of Serie A and Inter are set to reward him with a new deal.

The 28-year-old is already under contract with the club until the end of the 2022/23 season but the club wish to extend his deal.

The report from the Rome based newspaper goes on to state that Milan Skriniar has also already put pen to paper on a new contract with Inter, which will presumably be announced soon.

Skriniar has drawn links to several clubs for some time now and is one of the most coveted defenders in Europe but Inter have moved to tie him down to an extended deal in a bid to deter the interest.

Managed to score a goal, but other than that, quite poor stuff. Cornelius had De Vrij as his bitch today which is a bit worrying. IMO De Vrij hasn't been that good generally after the lockdown ended. His anticipation is off.

It's quite difficult to do well when your two other defenders are useless. He didn't do well but he had to cover Cornelius and worry about Gerivnho since our right side of the midfield made him look like prime Ribery.

Can I say De Vrij offers much more threats going forward than Eriksen? Occasionally well-timed runs and lots of good ball distribution

He's been fairly shaky defensively though. He really cheaply gave away the corner they scored for and got easily played by Ansaldi too.

According to gazzetta.it, he has only suffered a minor sprain and will only miss the Genoa match.

Thank the lord. This is honestly probably the player we can afford to lose the least. The drop off In quality from him to our replacement is too big.

I am happy for this guy because his NT career is fucked despite his quality, all because of De Ligt the so called golden boy. And now he has finally shown how undeserved this is by beating De Ligt literally based on stats to win this prize. Despite De Ligt playing for the oh so much better team. I hope that this will reignite his NT career, because that would be well deserved.

Well if we're being honest, being in flat back 2 carries more risk than being central CB in a 3-man defense. He was very good last season but made more mistakes because he was more exposed.

No different to bonucci being "world class" in 3-CB, but then once in flat 2, looks far less superior.

The most painful thing is that Skriniar won't shine during this 3 man formation. So if I want Skriniar to shine does that mean De Vrij can't be at his potential? Skriniar for me has done much better at a 3 man defense compared to de Vrij during the 2 man CB formation.

de vrij has really shone as the cb anchor in a 3 at the back formation. THAT BEI?NG SAID, I do see him as a somewhat Bastoni like player as in very good on the ball (not as good as Bastoni though). I'm sure there's a good reason why not (maybe pace), but I wonder about Skriniar at CB and De Vrij at RCB. Be interested to hear the logic

To me it made sense for Skriniar to be at RCB because 1v1 defending was one of his biggest strengths. He was very clever about negating his lack of pace by winning the ball before it could be a problem. Obviously with 3 at the back he is more exposed to pace, but he dealt with pacey players before pretty well. It feels like a significant part of his drop in form is mental.

Also, I think SDV and Bastoni are good on the ball in different ways. De Vrij is a better passer, Bastoni is a much better dribbler.

Don't comment on this guy, because all in all he maybe the best player we have match in match out. Today his stops were massive. He deserves the award he was given.

You said it - he's the anchor / fulcrum. You want that anchor in the center, not out wide.
