He can easily play at this level for 2-3 more years. I don't see the point of getting rid of him for peanuts. Most of the replacements mentioned here are probably worse than him
What I want is to keep him and also add a Bijol or somebody similar, both sharing minutes. How he and Acerbi shared minutes worked out nicely for us this season, but it might be time for Acerbi to leave or be a reserve.

I really don't see why he would leave Inter, after a life-long career in Italy. Especially at this age!

They would probably have to double or triple his salary to consider it, which I doubt they will.

I can see if he wants to play for 1-2 seasons ar Feyenoord (assuming it's his team) and wanting to win a league title with them, but as long as he can be serviceable for Inter it makes little sense to stop. Unless he wants to retire by 35 or something.

No point in selling him if it’s a 15mil offer unless there’s another target in mind for the future and that money would help us close. De Vrij at his best was an excellent to world class center back before Giroud mentally raped him into the Stone Age…

It would be a risky strategy trying to replace De Vrij now, especially with Acerbi carrying an injury into the offseason and seemingly only on a downward trajectory from this point on. De Vrij is 32, which isn’t that old for a CB, and he’s carrying momentum from a great international tournament. Add in the fact he’s our longest serving 1st team member/ alongside Lautaro, and that he has a longstanding relationship with Inzaghi; it wouldn’t be easy to replace him.

pretty sure that if an offer of 10M+ comes, Inter will wanna sell and if not, he gonna stay... I am fine with both... But next year a central defender will be a must, so they better have someone in mind.

It was an excellent finish by Watkins.

He should never be allowed to shoot between SDV's legs though, its all he had to cover. Big mistake indeed.

I actually think he did good all game, tracking everyone, especially Bellingham who didn't get any space/opportunity like he usually would.
Just one mistake, but I guess that is all it takes, even Watkins did good, kinda a really good sub in terms of shaking the rhythm and style of the attack considering the 2 CBs of Netherlands.

Not to mention he played 90 mins and Watkins was fresh, reminds me Lukaku again, and people blame Inzaghi for not starting him, but there is the difference.

Giroud, Depay, Watkins. It can’t coincidence this keeps happening to him.
and yet he was the better CB this season

Acerbi needs to leave first, I don't mind De Vrij as our second option for 2 more seasons minimum

You are listing 3 goals his team has conceded in 3 years time, which could be attributed to be his fault (there were others at fault for Depay goal btw aswell). I think it's a pretty fucken great record if we think about it. :D

That’s too simplistic. All these goals came in the biggest moments. When pressure is high he’s the one that cracks.

- Turning point for losing league
- Knocked out Champions League
- Knocked out Euros

He is great 95% of the time and great as a back up but he’s really no different than Lukaku in big moments if we’re being honest.

random thought: de vrij played with Sneijder at the 2014 WC, aside from arnatovic, is he the last connection to the 2010 legends? I can’t think of any other. Did mhiky or Sommer play with any of them at some point? I know this is out of the blue, but I saw a post about the 2014 WC and when I saw de vrij and sneijder together, it got me thinking.

I don't understand why you think Watkins' goal was a mistake from de Vrij. You block as much space as possible, and that's it, the rest is just luck. There's simply not enough time to react to the shot.
