So last time we had this magnificent season was Mancini's 06-07 unforgettable one. And now the competition is much stronger. Inzaghi doing hell of a job.

don't think that the competition is that much stronger... Milan won the champions league that season and they finished 4th in Serie A, which shows that the league wasn't that bad. Inter was just on another level that season... The only thing missing was Juve.

One, small, tiny detail, Juve missing.
And Milan came 4th because they had 8 points docked. I think they basically focused on the CL, expecting to be good enough for top 4 anyway but not competitive.

Juventus missing and the "shock" amongst the culprits was significant.
In terms of quality though, it was arguably a tougher league all around, but we possibly had the best squad in the world at the time and Mancini fucked it up in Europe as usual.

Now we can say that our starting XI is amongst the top 6* or something but our squad is marginally top 10.

* Real Madrid
Bayern
Manchester City
PSG (on paper)
Liverpool maybe, when all are fit?
Or Barcelona maybe.

So the only time we did better than this season (so far) is the Mancini 97-point season?

Not bad.

And it's still possible to have a better season than that one. Right now it seems 91 points can be enough to win the league. Depends on how good Milan and Juve do in the next 2 months.
